Academic honesty is expected in this class. Violations will result in course failure.
Attendance. Spring & Fall attendance policy. Students are permitted to miss one
class (3 hours) with no penalty, but a call to the professor of the class is expected. A
second absence will require that the student submit a letter to the Counseling Faculty
explaining the circumstances of the absence. The faculty will decide if the second
absence should be excused. If it is not excused, a deduction of a letter grade for the
course will occur. Subsequent absences will result in automatic letter grade reductions.
Summer attendance policy is different. You will be permitted one excused absence
(one class period). Subsequent absences will result in a deduction of one letter grade
per absence.
Late assignments will be penalized by one letter grade for each 24-hour- period they are
not turned in.
Unless otherwise noted, assignments are due in hard copy on 8.5 by 11 paper.
The syllabus is subject to change pending notification.
MEANS OF EVALUATION
Evaluation # 1, 2, 3, will be multiple-choice tests and a few short essay questions. They are
worth 25 points a piece for a total of 75 points.
Participation Grade: You will be responsible for a mini-presentation every class period. The
concept will be assigned to you the previous class. Every class period you will participate in
small group and large group discussions where you will engage in a variety of activities leading
to integrating the knowledge learned. Some of those activities are: word webbing, letter
writing, concept mapping, case studies, etc. You will earn 1 point for the mini-presentation and
