security, health and safety, and the organization and supervision of material and human
resources. The site engineer acts as the main technical adviser on a construction site for
subcontractor and supervisor.
The role includes the following tasks:
Setting out (marking the position of the structures) and levelling the site.
Checking drawings and quantities and ensuring that the calculations are accurate
for the work
Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plantfor use in the
construction
Planning the work and efficiently organizing the plant and site facilities in order to
meet agreed deadlines
Liaising
with
consultants,
sub-contractors,
supervisors,
planner, quantity
Liaising with the client and their representative (architects, engineers and
surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of
progress.
Day to day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site
labor force under the assistance of the site supervisor and he is monitoring the
work of any sub-contractors.
Overseeing quality control and safety matters on the site, and ensuring that the
regulations are adhered to

WORK METHODOLOGY
3.1
PREPARATORY WORK
Examine the cable path to ensure all areas are free of debris.
Ensure that all parties involved with above work is complete with proper PPE.
Tools and material to be used should be checked and are to be in good operating
condition.
All parties involved i.e Engineers, Site Supervisors, Safety Supervisor and worker
should discuss and confirm the activities to be carried out.
3.2
Check the auxiliary supply voltage connected to the relay corresponds to related
auxiliary voltage stated on its name plate.
Ensure that control knob on the test set gradually until O/C element of R (red)
phase pick up.

Connect a trip contact to timer stop terminals of the test set. (A pair of voltage
free contacts is preferred)
Switch off the test set with control knob remaining in the same position.
Switch on the test set to inject the current and start timer at the same time.
After trip contact has operated record the relay operating time in test form
Repeat the step 2 and 3 above for 2 and 3 times of setting current. To check that
operating time recorded correspond to timing characteristic of relay
Injected current shall be approximately 5% higher than setting. In this case, the
operating time will be of definite time delay instead of inverse time characteristic.
Caution :-
Check thermal rating of relay before high set element is tested to ensure that
maximum allowable continuous current is not exceeded.
Repeat all the above test for phase Y (yellow), B (blue) and E/F element.
Change setting back for all element (R,Y,B & E/F) to ensure that the start current

Check the auxiliary supply voltage connected to the relay corresponds to related
auxiliary voltage stated on its name plate
Connect output of the test set to input terminals of ELR. Alternatively singlephase primary current can be injected into one of the conductors to induce a
secondary current on the ZCT (core balance current transformer)
Ensure that control knob on the test set has returned zero position.
Increase the output current of test set gradually until the relay picks up.
Connect a trip contact to timer stop terminals of the test set. (A pair voltage free
