INTRODUCTION

To become a professional, especially in critical area such as Engineering

either in Chemical or mechanical scope, it is very crucial to always comes with
ethics and guidelines. For chemical engineering, we have our own ethics that has
been draw by Board of Engineers Malaysia that know as Guidelines for Code of
Professional Conduct. Among the ethics such as,

The safety, health and welfare of the public shall be a priority all the times

by a Registered Engineer.
He/She must undertake the task/assignments only if a Registered Engineer
has ability in term of qualification either by experience or education in
field which is involved.
The code of conduct is an important code about how we behave in our

engineer life. It gives us the guidance to act in term of good manner and not
effecting the environment and society. This will direct the engineer for not
causing any harm to the future generation, society, and environment. With this
ethical code, as an engineer, instead of giving pleasure to themselves they can
also contribute to the society and guide their own career to become a
professional. This code also will give them a professional practice, improve their
personal behavior and can help them to act in a conflict of interest

CHOOSEN CODES
In this code of conduct, there are five main codes that must be follow by
an engineer. Within this five code, three of them will be discuss. There are:
1.0

A registered engineer shall at all time hold paramount the safety, health

and welfare to the public.

An engineer must at all time think of the safety, health and welfare of the
society. This is because, as an engineer, when inventing something, the safety of
the surrounding should be taken care of. This is an important code that must be
follow for preventing any harm to the environment and the society. An engineer
should only approve and sign only those documents that he has prepared or
been prepared under his direct supervisor. Other document that he can sign
under his position, must not be approve, because he doesnt know the content
unless he fully check the content and the content is right. If someone in the field
of engineer caught disobeys the rules, it must be report to the appropriate
professional bodies. In a situation that an engineer found out that there certain
product would give harm, he need to notify his employer and client about the
situation to prevent any unwanted harm occurs.

2.0

A registered engineer shall undertake assignment only if he is qualified by

education and experienced in the specific technical field in which he is involve.

This will direct an engineer for not affix their signature to any plan or
document that he lack of competence and knowledge. This also apply to which
document or plan that not supervise direct under him. A professional engineer
shall not accept assignment and assume responsibility for coordination of an
entire project and give their sign or stamp unless each technical segment of the
project were sign by qualified engineer in the field

who have prepared the

respective segment.

A registered engineer shall issue public statement only in

an objective

and truthful manner.

An engineer shall objective and truthful in his professional report,
statement and testimony. He should include any relevant information about the
project that being conduct. He must not lied the failed information in the project

conducted. A registered engineer shall not issue statement, critism or argument

on technical matter that is inspired or paid for by interested parties, unless he
has preface his comment by explicitly identifying the interested parties on whose
behalf he is speaking and by revealing the existence of any interest he may have
in the matter.

There are also other sources that can guide an engineer to their

CONCLUSION
This code of conduct is very important in the field of engineering. This because,
we all know, nowadays, there were many abuse of authorities happen. There for,
this code of conduct can minimize the abuse. This Code of Ethics and Conduct
reflects the person commitment to the highest standards of legal and ethical
conduct. It is offered as general guidance to engineer to be successful and
useful to the society instead of giving them pleasure
