What are the ethical issues faced by the

Human Resources department of Foxconn
factories?

Does the socio-economic environment is

developing countries pose unique ethical
issues for the management of Foxconn?

What are the relevant norms, ethical

principles, code of ethics that are applicable
to Foxconn?

Human resource administrators and managers are both defined as

professionals as they meet all the features of a professional occupation.
These features include being and expert in their field with a mastery of a
body of knowledge which in both cases is taught in a university setting
which provides them with a degree to practice this profession which is a
restriction society has imposed to limit who can practice these skills.
As professionals they receive a high level of freedom in the way they
undertake their role because of this freedom there is an expectation from
society that they meet a set of obligations. One way to ensure they
adhere to these obligations is to establish a code of ethics which
individuals from not only inside but also outside the profession can
understand and agree upon.
All codes of ethics are based on care and respect for the client at all time
(tafe nsw), with the client being not only the employer but also the
employees they oversee and who they represent. For the Foxconn Human
Resource administrators and managers to be ethically responsible in their
commercial roles they would have to establish a code of ethics which can
be agreed upon by all parties that will be affected, Foxconn upper
management, employees as well as those acting under the code of ethics.
A well rounded code of ethics will provide a statement of the common
values of the organisation along with establishing what they define as
unethical or corrupt conduct. It will also relate the normative issues and
commitments to occupational health and safety. As a commitment to the
code of ethics consequences of breaching the code have to be punished.

This will result in a far more predictable workforce for Foxconn as all the
employees will be treated ethically and not pushed beyond reasonable
human limits it will drastically decrease the number of suicides within
Foxconn employees.
Due to the public nature of a code of ethics it creates a system in which
the public can be critical of your approach to business and in turn further
public outcry to boycott Foxconn, as what happened in 2013, could be
avoided. This results in a larger client base as new clients arent deterred
from the negative image of dealing with an unethical company.
