Ethiopia/Canadian Coffee, Tea Show

Ethiopia participated at the Canadian Coffee and Tea Show,
which was held on September 25 and 26, 2016 at the
International Centre in Toronto.

The Canadian Coffee and Tea Show is one of the biggest annual
trade shows attended by hundreds of exhibiters and thousands of
visitors.
In the international show, Ethiopian booths were colorful and
eye catching and was among those that attracted most of the
visitors of the show.
Ethiopia`s participation in this trade show was very successful
as it created an opportunity to Ethiopian companies to meet the
leading Canadian coffee buyers.
The companies which represented Ethiopia in the international
show promoted the culture of Ethiopian coffee to Canadian
buyers and costumers very well.
At the event, a number of Canadians companies showed interest
in Ethiopian coffee and some of them have already decided to
buy on the spot and started negotiation with our exporters.
Ethiopia is the birth place of Organic Coffee Arabica, with a
reputation for producing some of the worlds finest coffees. It is
the first in Africa and the 5th in the world in coffee production.

Yirgacheffee, Sidamo and Harrar are the three famous

trademarks of Ethiopia's finest coffees branded globally.
Germany, Saudi Arabia and America are the leading export
destinations for Ethiopia's coffee. More than 35 Canadian
importers also import coffee from Ethiopia.
Ethiopia planned to earn 970 million US dollars in 2016/17 from
the targeted 230,000 tons of export coffee.////

Shimon Peres dies

The former Israeli PM and president, Shimon Peres, has died

aged 93.
Shimon Perez suffered a stroke two weeks ago and his condition
improved before a sudden deterioration on Tuesday.
His son Chemi led tributes to "one of the founding fathers of the
state of Israel" who "worked tirelessly" for it.

Mr. Peres, who was one of the last of a generation of Israeli
politicians present at the new nation's birth in 1948, served twice
as the country's prime minister and once as president.
He won the Nobel Peace prize in 1994 for his role negotiating
peace accords with the Palestinians a year earlier.

He once said the Palestinians were Israel's "closest neighbours"

and might become its "closest friends".
Mr. Peres died in a hospital near Tel Aviv early on Wednesday,
with his family at his bedside.
He had been in the intensive care unit of the Sheba Medical
Centre after suffering a major stroke on 13 September.
Mr Peres shared his Nobel Peace Prize with Prime Minister
Yitzhak Rabin, who was later assassinated, and Palestinian
leader Yasser Arafat.
At the start of his long political career, he was put in charge of
personnel and arms purchases for the Haganah, the predecessor
of the Israel Defense Forces.
He secured a deal with France to supply the new Israeli nation
with Mirage jet fighters. He also set up Israel's secret nuclear
facility.
He was the defence minister in 1976, when Palestinian hijackers
diverted a plane from Israel to Entebbe in Uganda. He oversaw
the successful rescue of more than 100 hostages.
Once an advocate of Jewish settlements in the occupied West
Bank, Mr. Peres later became a leading political dove. He often
spoke of the need for compromise over territorial demands in
Palestinian areas.

He maintained an active public schedule into old age, mostly

through his non-governmental Peres Centre for Peace, which
promotes closer ties between Israel and the Palestinians.
In 2013 he said: "There is no alternative to peace. There is no
sense to go to war."
He retired from his role as president in 2014.////

et des milliers de visiteurs.
Dans le salon international, les cabines thiopiens taient color
et accrocheur et tait parmi ceux qui ont attir la plupart des
visiteurs du salon.
participation Ethiopia`s dans ce salon a t trs russie car elle a
cr une opportunit pour les entreprises thiopiennes de
rencontrer les principaux acheteurs de caf canadiens.

Les entreprises qui ont reprsent l'Ethiopie dans le salon

international ont favoris la culture du caf thiopien aux
acheteurs et aux costumiers canadiens trs bien.
Lors de l'vnement, un certain nombre de socits Canadiens
ont montr un intrt dans le caf thiopien et certains d'entre
eux ont dj dcid d'acheter sur place et a commenc la
ngociation avec nos exportateurs.
L'Ethiopie est le lieu de naissance de Organic Arabica Coffee,
avec une rputation de produire certains des meilleurs cafs du
monde. Il est le premier en Afrique et le 5me au monde dans la
production de caf. Yirgacheffee, Sidamo et Harrar sont les trois
marques clbres de meilleurs cafs thiopiens de marque
l'chelle mondiale.
Allemagne, Arabie saoudite et l'Amrique sont les principales
destinations d'exportation pour le caf de l'Ethiopie. Plus de 35
importateurs canadiens importent galement du caf d'Ethiopie.

Shimon Peres meurt

L'ancien Premier ministre isralien et le prsident, Shimon
Peres, est dcd ge de 93 ans.
Shimon Perez a subi un coup il y a deux semaines et son tat
amlior avant une dtrioration soudaine mardi.

Son fils Chemi conduit hommages l'un des pres fondateurs

de l'Etat d'Isral" qui "a travaill sans relche" pour elle.

M. Peres, qui tait l'un des derniers d'une gnration de
politiciens israliens prsents la naissance de la nouvelle
nation en 1948, a t deux fois premier ministre du pays et une
fois en tant que prsident.
Il a remport le prix Nobel de la Paix en 1994 pour son rle de
ngociation des accords de paix avec les Palestiniens un an plus
tt.
Il a dit que les Palestiniens taient "plus proches voisins" d'Isral
et pourrait devenir ses amis les plus proches".
M. Peres est mort dans un hpital prs de Tel Aviv mercredi
matin, avec sa famille son chevet.
Il avait t dans l'unit de soins intensifs du Centre mdical
Sheba aprs avoir subi un AVC majeur le 13 Septembre.
M. Peres a partag son prix Nobel de la paix avec le Premier
ministre Yitzhak Rabin, qui fut plus tard assassin, et le
dirigeant palestinien Yasser Arafat.
Au dbut de sa longue carrire politique, il a t mis en charge
du personnel et les bras achats pour la Haganah, le prdcesseur
des Forces de dfense israliennes.
Il a obtenu un accord avec la France pour fournir la nouvelle
nation isralienne avec des avions de combat Mirage. Il a

galement mis en place l'installation nuclaire secrte d'Isral.

Il tait le ministre de la Dfense en 1976, lorsque les pirates
palestiniens dtourns d'un avion en provenance d'Isral
Entebbe en Ouganda. Il a supervis le sauvetage de plus de 100
otages.
Une fois que l'avocat des colonies juives en Cisjordanie
occupe, M. Peres est devenu plus tard une colombe politique de
premier plan. Il a souvent parl de la ncessit d'un compromis
sur des revendications territoriales dans les zones palestiniennes.
Il a maintenu un calendrier public actif dans la vieillesse, la
plupart du temps par sa non-gouvernementale Centre Peres pour
la Paix, qui favorise des liens plus troits entre Isral et les
Palestiniens.
En 2013, il a dit: Il n'y a pas d'alternative la paix Il n'y a pas
de sens d'aller la guerre..
Il se retire de son rle en tant que prsident en 2014.////
