ON SERVICE
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive

This extract from the Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi beautifully encapsulates the idea behind Service. On a
very basic level, to serve a person is to recognize and take care of his needs. It is being sensitive and helpful
towards them.

On a deeper level, service can be better understood by thinking of it in two separate ways. The first
involves serving people who are connected to you through familial or emotional ties, which is an expression
of love on an emotional level. This, according to the teachings of our guru Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, is
associated with the heart chakra the center of emotional love. He therefore states doing service develops
the heart!

The second involves serving people who are not connected to you in any way. When help is offered to
someone unconnected to you, such as feeding the hungry, helping the homeless or giving medical assistance
to poor patients, then that too is an expression of love, but on a higher level. According to our Teacher, such
as act is an outpouring of divine love from the crown chakra. This is a higher form of Service.

Naturally, reaching out to a person and being helpful, first starts with people you are connected with.
However, as you offer more help to such people and serve them better, it is observed that you slowly begin
to help those not connected with you as well. From a Pranic Healing perspective, this occurs because when
the heart chakra is highly activated from serving those you are connected with, the crown chakra gets
activated to a certain degree just as one observes in the Meditation to Twin Hearts taught by GMCKS.
With an activated crown, the spiritual practitioner is able to feel the need of
others and experience oneness with them, such that he is able to dedicate his
time, efforts and resources towards the betterment of others. Saints, highly
developed people including our guru Grand Master Choa Kok Sui are fine
examples who made huge sacrifices for the betterment of humanity or in other
words, for people they were entirely unconnected with.

Finally, since every action has an equal and opposite reaction, it

follows t hat s ervice, i s a n a ction, w hich m ust h ave a n o pposite r eaction.
Or as St. Francis of Assisi puts it, it is in giving that we receive. This simply means that by serving a
person, you generate good karma, which helps you negate your negative karma and progress spiritually.

Service develops the power within you

ON SERVICE
Continued

GMCKS said, as you do service and as you help, you are entitled to
receive help. He said, Doing service accelerates spiritual
developmentservice together with mediation is one of the fastest
ways to achieve illumination.

In fact, the basic nature of the soul is to serve. When there is

greater soul connection by living a life of virtues, purification and
spiritual practices, more soul energy pours down. Thus, the incarnated soul is automatically drawn and
inspired to serve higher causes and mankind. When this happens, the soul is also able to neutralize his
negative karma, as doing service produces tremendous good karma, more empowerment, and rapid
spiritual growth. The Great Ones, and the Higher Beings are also constantly evolving, and one of the most
important mediums is through service.

As GMCKS questioned: What is the purpose of having big chakras?

His simple answer: To do service. When you do service, it is like giving your chakras muscles.
The greater your service, the greater your spiritual development.

IN ESSENCE
How can I be an instrument of Service?

One can invoke God and the Spiritual Teacher to make oneself a great instrument of Service! This can
be done on a daily basis using the following prayer:

To the Supreme God,

To my spiritual teachers,
To all the great ones, holy angels and spiritual helpers,
Thank you for making me a good instrument of your service!
With thanks and in full faith!

By repeating this prayer every day, the spiritual practitioner will effectively offer himself for service
and will soon find that opportunities to do so will come his way.

According to Master Choa, Meditation on Twin Hearts is one of the highest forms of Service. Blessing
Mother Earth, and millions of souls on it harmonizes conflicting factors, and also increases love, peace
and harmony. It enhances divine oneness and spirituality in all, and helps heal Mother Earth.

There are also many avenues of Service provided by our school. One can serve by healing those in
need, teaching Meditation on Twin Hearts to others and being a part of various service projects
provided by the Foundation from time to time.

AT THE FEET OF THE TEACHER...

All of us work hard in our lives but we may not be equally happy & according to me one of the key reasons
for this is that most of us feel compelled to do our work rather than being motivated. Like the difference
between a porter being compelled to lift heavy weights, as opposed to a celebrity who is "motivated" to lift
heavy weights in a gym! Similarly, before I was doing service, I was like the porter who was just "compelled"
to live through my problems but with service I transformed into the star who can labor endlessly to achieve
success in my endeavors and yet enjoy the process!
Also with the opportunity to serve I realized that everyone around us have challenges one way or the other
and in helping them eliminate those challenges I learnt to tackle my own problems. Therefore in substance I
believe that Service has been the training ground for me where I learnt to tackle my own problems by solving
someone else's - Its Gods own Coaching Class! The biggest gain I have had from serving is that, it has to large
extent, eliminated fear from within me and from what I have heard from great scholars, the space that fear
vacates, is occupied by faith! Also, whenever I have been of service to others, it makes me feel my own self
worth, a justifiable reason for my existence and when I alleviate someone else's pain, I feel my pain has also
alleviated, perhaps my moment of experiencing oneness! I really enjoy the feeling. - Vivek Doshi
For me Service means stretching myself beyond my existing limits to develop new potentials. Willingly and
lovingly serving the noble cause of our Satguru GMCKS is helping me overcome physical and mental lethargy.
I am becoming more efficient in all arenas of life. In the disguise of service, I am becoming more regular with
my spiritual practices! As a result, procrastination is slowly being replaced by accomplishments. By being a
volunteer, I also got the opportunity to receive priceless abstract teachings from Acharya Hector. My
heartfelt regards and thanks to the foundation to provide me with the opportunity to serve and help me
grow at a faster pace! - Kavita Bodh
Previously, I was facing many challenges in life like ill health and financial problems. But since I started
doing Service 5 years back, my life has completely changed. I started by volunteering for healing camps and
experienced that I started enjoying better health. My financial situation has also greatly improved. Even
though I left my job, there are no constraints. As I started serving more, I feel now that all my work gets done
very smoothly and easily, without any obstacles. I can also feel my healing powers increase! Thank you God
and Master for helping me serve! - Deepti Sunkersett
Atma namaste! Service enables us to carry out our soul's purpose in the everyday world. As Grand Master
said When you do service, your energy level increases. You become a channel. The more you do service,
the more you become empowered. This is exactly what I experience... After spending about 4 5 hours at
a healing camp or any other volunteering work I feel more energetic and happy from within. The good
karma generated through service helps me to overcome difficult situations and answers most of my
problems. I am ever so grateful to GMCKS and the foundation for giving me various opportunities to
serve. - Ayesha Fernandes

By serving you will grow spiritually, mentally and financially.

DEEPER INSIGHTS: Serving God

In his biography The Origin of Modern Pranic Healing & Arhatic Yoga, Grand Master Choa Kok Sui
says:
Be of service to others to become a humble servant of the Planetary God.
To Serve. To Serve. To Serve.

This He said should be our primary aim. So it follows that the highest form of service is service to
the Planetary God, which we can undertake by serving our Guru or Spiritual Teacher. This is
because our spiritual Guru is our point of connection with the higher beings in the inner world. Our
Guru has a noble vision outlined in his biography, in which He pronounces that if The Great Vision is
set in action, within one hundred and fifty years time the world will change, be transformed and
progress beyond recognition. If this objective can be accomplished, we can have heaven on earth.
Thus when a disciple serves his Gurus mission, he actually helps serve mankind, albeit in his own micro way. To elucidate this
point, consider for example, a person in need of medical help. You can serve him by giving him medicines and relieve him of
his pain. However, this act of service, as good as it is, only benefits the person for a short while. If he falls ill again, he will again
be in need of help. Instead, if you taught the person Pranic Healing or the Meditation on Twin Hearts for instance, or paid for
him to undertake the classes, or perhaps paid for his education to become a doctor if it was within the bounds of his capability,
then you would have helped heal him for the rest of his life. The karmic return for serving someone in such a manner is
evidently many times more than an act of temporary helpfulness.

Serving the Gurus mission generates the highest amount of good karma. Grand Master Choa Kok Sui therefore advices his
students to donate for charitable and spiritual purposes, for building and supporting spiritual centers or ashrams as (it) will
generate lots of good karma or spiritual wealth and will greatly benefit mankind.

This said, it must be noted that the opportunity to serve the Guru is a blessing in disguise for the student. The student must not
think that he is doing his Guru a favor by serving his mission, as it is through service that the student can grow spiritually,
mentally and financially.

SNIPPET: General Sweeping

When cleansing is done on the whole body, it is called General Sweeping. It is also called aura cleansing or
combing by some esoteric students.
There are 2 hand positions that are used in this kind of sweeping:
cupped- hand position- more effective in removing the diseased energy, and
spread- finger position- more effective in combing and disentangling the health rays.

General sweeping has numerous benefits, some of which are:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

Removes congested and diseased energy from the whole aura

Unblocks meridians, and allows prana to flow smoothly all over the energy body
Facilitates expelling of toxins, wastes, germs and dirty energy
Increases one's resistance against infection
Seals the holes in the outer aura, through which prana leaks out
It can also be used to eliminate tiredness

Hence practicing the same on oneself on a daily basis has a preventive, healthy and revitalizing effect.

According to Master Choa, general sweeping cleanses, strengthens and greatly facilitates the healing process.
Hence, doing the same thoroughly before any healing can speeded up the healing process, as well as produce
better results!

RE- VISION
In one section of Inner Teachings of Hinduism Revealed, Grand Master Choa
Kok Sui, talks about the significance of performing an aarthi. He says that it is
a common way of cleaning the aura. He further explains how, often, a
Brahmin priest is hired to say a prayer and while offering wood, sends ghee to a fire. Every time
one offers ghee, one has to invoke for the blessings of Lord Agni to purify himself, his chakras,
aura, energy body, astral and mental bodies, and to disintegrate his internal obstacles. These internal obstacles
are manifestations of internal weaknesses. By burning these internal weaknesses, negative thoughts and
negative emotions, you are burning the internal obstacles.

However, GMCKS cautions that, no matter how many aarthis are done, if one does not generate good karma,
nothing much will happen because no aarthi can burn up negative karma.
An aarthi can burn negative thoughts, negative emotions and dirty energy, but the karma is still there. The way
to handle the karma is to generate good karma by service and tithing. This good karma is used to pay your
karmic debts. That is why some of you who were in trouble before, because of your service and tithing, have been
able to generate good karma and pay back some of your karmic debts. That is why your life has improved
tremendously.

Q & A

Contact Us:

Q1. Why should I exercise before and after meditation?

The recommended physical exercises cleanses the energy body,

chakras and meridians, thereby expelling all used- up prana.
Hence, it prepares the body to be ready for meditation. It also
minimizes pranic congestion, and one does not fall asleep
during meditation.
After meditation, it is required to repeat the exercises again, as
it further releases the excess energy, expels more used- up
prana from the body and thus, cleanses and strengthens the
physical body. This also facilitates the assimilation of the
pranic and spiritual energies, thereby enhancing the beauty
and health of the practitioner. According to Master Choa, it is
very important to exercise after meditation, otherwise the
visible physical body will inevitably weaken.
