practical experience to augment your education and training,

and your experience will help you become a professional user
interface designer. Studying and receiving a certification in your
area of expertise that can raise you conceptual understanding of
the technology.
A. Education (School and Self Learning)
1. You can receive education from a professional institution,
such as a college or technical school, as well as enhance
your understanding in other ways. Many designers have
a background in areas such as computer science or
engineering, though many people enter user interface
design with a degree in psychology or sociology. You
should look for classes in human computer interaction
(HCI) and usability, and read books that are foundational
to understanding user interface design.
2. Search the vocational training services that were
provided form the Workforce Development Agency.
3. Take the free on line classes that were provided from
the120+ top universities and educational organizations in
Coursera.
4. Study in cram school to improve your ability of the
programming and Information analysis skill within short
period.
5. Preparing for Certification would increase the motivation
to set aside the time and energy that was needed to truly
study a topic.
B. Experience:
1. Most companies looking to hire a user interface designer
(UI) also look for previous experience to actually
demonstrate what a candidate knows how to do.
2. You might look for work for small companies that cannot
pay much, but would provide you with opportunities to
build and grow your professional portfolio.
3. It is often a good idea to showcase certain things in your
portfolio potential employers will want to see, such as
documentation, demonstrating how you developed ideas
from one stage to the next, and providing examples of
effective problem solving on a project. Experience can
potentially be more important for a designer than a
philosophical understanding of design, but you should
strive to have both to make yourself more appealing than
other candidates.
4. Get some skill certifications that can obviously show your
ability Certification is a strong credential that help
illustrate our knowledge in the specific ability.

IV. Professionals point

of view

Some advices from an Usability Engineer (Q & A)

A. Would you please shortly introduce your job when you in
Acer (routine work, how much time you have to manage a
project, working hours/per week). How do you typically
approach new projects?
Answer:
This job requires you to evaluate relevant electronic
products, more specifically, laptop, computer and template.
My first project is to evaluate a keyboard project and improve
overall keyboard in the company. I usually worked 12 hours a
day. I spent two months to complete this project and propose
an objective way to improve it. You need to have ability to
finish the project indecently.
B. What is the challenge and benefit with that position? Do you
feel you have learnt something new from that position?
Answer:
Be honest. I really learned a lot from the job no matter what
electronic products is. And I understood these product more
details. The most difficult challenge for the position is to
persuade the colleagues, even your manager to adopt your
design and experiments. Sometime it is hard to persuade
them because their background could understand these
design and statistic. However, you must be patient to explain
it. If you could not persuade them, you must revise the
design and experiments until they satisfied with it.
C. Where do you see yourself in five years time? Thats means
if you still stay at Acer, what is your imagination that you will
be promotion within that company?
Answer:
If I still stay at Acer, I should create an amazing electronic
product for customers and earn the money to build a
quantitative laboratory.
D. What could people be prepared before they leave school? If
they want to be hired Joint company like Acer or Asus. Do
you have any advice for freshmen? How to get into such big
company?
Answer:
First, you should have a project about electronic products or
software to introduce yourself. Hence, if you had
experienced lab training to get a project, that would be useful
to you. Alternatively, you could obtain some award about
design competition. It is also good for you.
E. What kind of people your team will like working with, what
kind of transferable skill are required: analytical skills,
creativity, communication skills, interpersonal skills,

negotiation skills.

It is very important to be Not egocentric because you work
with the colleagues from different fields. Second, if you can
maintain your passion and cheer up your colleagues, you
would be popular there. Finally, you should learn new things
every day and be humble to ask what you don't know.
