Section A
1. Draw a line segment PQ = 6.0 cm. Construct a circle which passes through P and Q and whose centre
is at a distance of 2 cm from PQ. Measure the radius of the circle. [5]
2. Does the line 3x = y+1 bisect the line segment joining A(- 2, 3) and B(4, 1)? [5]
3. A man travels 200 km with a uniform speed of “x” km per hr. The distance could have been covered in
2 hrs less, had the speed been (x + 5) km/hr. Calculate the value of “x”. [5]
4. Calculate AB from the diagram below. [4]

5. The height of a circular cylinder is 20 cm and the radius of its base is 7 cm. Find the volume. [1]
Section B
1. From the figure below, prove that EF=FB. [3]

2. Prove that sec A – tan A / cosec A + cot A = cosec A – cot A / sec A + tan A [3]
3. The sine of certain angle θ is 0.5736. Use tables to find the value of θ.[5]
4. Given two straight lines 3 x – 2y = 5 and 2x +ky + 7= 0. Find the value of k for which the given lines
are:
i) parallel to each other.
ii) perpendicular to each other. [5]
5. (cos A + sin A)2 + (cos A – sin A)2 = 2 [4]
Section – C
1. Draw a circle of radius 4.5 cm. Construct and equilateral triangle in it and measure the length of its one
side. [3]
2. During 1998-99, Rashid has a salary of Rs 9,600 per month(excluding H.R.A.). His annual
contribution to Providend Fund Account is Rs 10,500 and the annual premium for L.I.C. is Rs 13,500.
Calculate the income-tax due on him in the last month of the financial year 1998-99, if his earlier
deductions from income-tax are at the rate of Rs 800 per month. [4]
3. Two brothers A and B invest Rs 16,000 each in buying shares of two companies. A buys 3% hundred-
rupee shares at 80 and B buys ten-rupee at par. If they both receive equal dividends at the end of the
year, find the rate per cent of the dividend received by B. [3]
4. Evaluate cosec 50°/sec 40° [2]
5. Meena opened a recurring deposit account with a bank and deposited Rs 75 per month for 7 years. If
the interest is reckoned at the rate of 13% p.a., find the amount she had got at the end of the maturity
period. [3]
6.

In the figure given above, obtain all the points equidistant from lines m and n; and 2.5 cm from O. [5]

Section – D
1. Find the mode of following data using a histogram [6]
Height(cm) 120 121 122 123 124
Frequency 5 8 18 10 9

2. Sarita purchases biscuits costing Rs 158 on which the rate of sales-tax is 6%. She also purchases some
cosmetic-goods costing Rs 354 on which the rate of sales-tax is 9%. Find the total amount to be paid by
Sarita. [4]
3. Using ruler and compass only, construct an isosceles △ ABC in which the base BC = 3.5 cm and the
base angle B = 75°. Draw all lines of symmetry of the triangle. [2]
4. In the figure below, AB=AC, ∠ A = ∠ D = 90°, DB = 18 cm and DC = 24 cm. Calculate the length of
AB correct to two places of decimal. [3]

5. Water flows into a tank 150 meters long and 100 meters broad through a pipe whose cross-section is 2
dm by 1.5 dm at the speed of 15 km per hour. In what time, will the water be 3 meters deep? [3]
6. Construct a parallelogram ABCD, having BC=3.6 cm CD=4.0 cm and ∠ B = 60°. Draw its lines of
symmetry, if possible, and also mark its point of symmetry. [2]
Section – E
1. The area of a big room is 300 m2. If the length were decreased by 5 m and the breadth increased by
5m; the area would be unaltered. Find the length of the room. [5]
2. On a map, drawn to a scale of 1 : 250000, a triangular plot PQR of land has the following
measurements:
PQ = 3 cm, QR = 4 cm and angle PQR = 90°.
Calculate the actual lengths of QR and PR in kilometer.
3. For triangle ABC, show that sin A+B/2 = cos C/2 [5]
