engineering?
Best Answer: This is a very interesting question.
Both these fields of enginr is vast and there is a plethora of opportunities out there.
Comparing Electrical engr you only deal with a portion of machines like motors, and
electronics
but in mechanical side you have to study them as well as work with motors, fluid
mechanics , heat , thermal etc.
Mechanical engr the practicals are more touch and you have to have some aptitude
for drawing and a passion for machine as well
A STRONG base in elemental theory of mechanics would be a god send.
dynamics of motion, heat mass transfer, fluid dynamics etc.
It is a given that when you enter the field of engn you have to be competent in
maths and physics.
a passion to solve problems is important.
Four years is going to be like a circus at best. And you have to balance on a rope to
maintain your sanity.

Placement wise both the electrical and mechanical fields , more or less have equal
chances.
Private companies might take you on after completing some PG diploma after you
graduate degree.
In Public sector Power companies Like the NTPC , KSEB, UPSC, HAL, BHEL, BEL, ECIL
etc in India take on graduate engineers each year. They select both Mechanical and
Electrical engineers

an important point to note is that when u attend a particular college be sure to

ascertain that they have accreditation fro you national technical council like AICTE
in India.

Do not be dis heartened by the course load.
