Major Functions of the Organization:

To produce gears for automobiles like tractor & trucks through blanking and
then machining the forged gear blank by CNC, broaching, VMC, milling,
deburring etc.
Major Functions of the Department Allocated:
Gear Manufacturing - To run manufacturing operations for making gear,
from the beginning where raw material is blanked and till the end when finished
gear is exported.

Responsibilities during Training:

I have to be in the production team for gear manufacturing and I have to
follow the instructions of team/plant head for specific operations. Gears are
manufactured through different steps of production and hence I have to assist the
team in carrying the minor but mandatory operations to keep the processes on
track. Although professionals are present in the company for different specialized
operations so my task is to observe and learn the operations used in
manufacturing such that I can practise them at some minor levels along with the
people already engaged in the production project. I dont have the full
responsibility to carry some task which would lead to business oriented output
but I will help my team members and head in general operations for better
performance in their regular activities.

Technology Platform: Technology & Machines used in the manufacturing

process are blanking machine, Computer Numeric Control (CNC), Vertical
Milling Centre (VMC), milling machine, broaching machine, and deburring
machine.

Nature of the Project/Work: Development & Innovation in Gear Manufacturing

Project/Work Schedule:
This project has a lot of steps for production of gears with each of them having a
different time span for completion. First phase of production is blanking in which
billets are cut from metal rods & sent for forging and this process takes
about 5 days. After that machining of forged components is done through
processes like CNC & VMC Operations, milling, broaching, and deburring etc.
Different combinations or these processes are used as per the requirement of the
component. This whole procedure almost takes 3-4 days. The processes are
repeated after each cycle.

A Brief Summary of the Project/Work to be done:

As the project is about production of gears of automobiles for trucks & tractors
mainly, so the work to be done revolves around the above mentioned processes.
My job would be to report daily to my project manager & assist in assigned tasks
in all of these manufacturing procedures. The final product made after all the
process is a gear which is used in vehicles. So the work is all about learning and
studying different production processes, their nature, implementation, pros &
cons, schedule, efficiency through the use of different machines etc. I will learn
about gears, their types, uses and defects etc. in this internship.
