PURPOSE OF JOB

Provide support on accurate, timely and high quality analysis, while providing insights to key decision-makers and
stakeholders

Contribute to the financial planning of the Exams department and its major units to its long range and annual
operating budgets

Provide accurate and timely reporting of income, and prepare reconciliation for all examination products.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
Examination Services Department

The British Councils Exams Department has set in place an ambitious plan to ensure its growth and greater impact
in a fast changing, global environment. To do this, the division needs to work more effectively and efficiently with
partners, both internal and external from all sectors of society.

The Exams Department has grown into a multi-million pounds business. Due to the scale of the operations, the
organization feels there should be a dedicated resource team to manage the financial planning of the Exams
division. This position will be a national role.

This team will be headed by the Director of Planning and Performance and will be responsible for coordinating the
planning activity as well as periodically monitoring performance against approved plans. The team will also be
responsible for analyzing trends and suggesting solutions for overcoming any performance gaps.
Team Structure

The position has two direct reports i.e. Two Finance Officers.

The position will be responsible for implementation of strategies and analyses relating to financial planning of Exams
department operating in 3 large offices in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and two small offices in Multan and Faisalabad
ACCOUNTABILITIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN DUTIES

Ensure and lead accurate monthly closings and reporting position of forecasts and plans.

Monitor and follow-up with internal teams and business partners on accounts payables and receivables.

Responsible for leading the activity and maintaining appropriate documentation and explanations for revenue
reconciliations.

Provide budget planning parameters and direction to budget holders in development of the annual operating budget.

Develop processes and procedures to ensure monthly monitoring and analyses of actual results compared to budget
are in place.

Establish and maintain procedures to ensure that financial reports are timely, accurate, consistent, and meet the
requirements of the Exams departments standards

Participate in review of financial systems and processes in order to facilitate improvements in operations and
enhancements to internal controls

Supervise designated staff by performing tasks such as scheduling and coordinating work assignments, evaluating
employee performance and determining related training and orientation requirements.

Provide support to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in managing the strategic financial modeling and
annual target-setting processes.

Contribute to the process of implementing rigorous financial management capabilities, thereby ensuring delivery of
annual budget results and strengthening cash flow predictability/forecasts.

Work closely with the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis to introduce and apply professional analytical tools and
techniques to support the business.

OTHER IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS OF JOB: The post holder is required to travel frequently, primarily within
Pakistan.
Passport/visa and/or nationality requirement.
