REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
Any boat with a motor or sail, all snowmobiles and off-highway vehicles [includes motorcycles (dirt bikes), three
wheelers, four wheelers and dune buggies, does not apply to scooters, mini bikes or golf carts], operated in
Colorado for recreational purposes must be registered with Colorado Parks and Wildlife. In order to register a
vessel/vehicle in Colorado please follow these instructions:
A. Complete the Registration Application
1. Please print or type using pen or ink. Please verify that all information is correct, complete and legible.



2. Complete the Owner Information section, and sign the certification statement at the bottom of the form.
In order to register the vessel/vehicle in more than one name the application must reflect the following:
a. The names of ALL legal owners.
b. Each owners respective birth date.
c. The signatures of ALL owners at the bottom of the form. (Certification Statement.)

3. Please physically inspect your vessel/vehicle for an Identification Number (Hull I.D. number for boats
and Vehicle I.D. number for snowmobiles and off-highway vehicles). The HIN/VIN is a serial number
assigned to the vessel/vehicle by the manufacturer. If the vessel/vehicle has no number please call our
office for assistance, or take the vessel/vehicle to a state park or state park office for a physical inspection
by an officer.
4. Complete the appropriate Registration Section and check () the appropriate fee box at the top of the page.

B. Submit the proper fee See fee schedule at the top of the form.
1. Make checks and money orders payable to Colorado Parks and Wildlife or fill out the credit card
information at the bottom of the form.
2. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is NOT responsible for cash sent through the mail, please do NOT send cash.

3. Pursuant to 33-1-112.5 CRS, $.25 has been added to the registration fee for the Search and
Rescue surcharge.

C. Apply in person or mail the completed Registration Application and the proper fee to:

 ll transactions take a minimum of 2 to 4 weeks to process. On a Transfer or Renewal transaction, if the
registration number provided cannot be verified by Colorado Parks and Wildlife records or a previous Colorado
Registration Certificate, a new registration number will be assigned to that vessel/vehicle.
E. Registrations are non-transferable and non-refundable.
