Separated from the service in 1998 and was finally able to attend Ecole Ritz Escoffier a year later. Started a restaurant in Los Angeles in 2000 but despite
glowing reviews from print and TV food critics, the business struggled to establish a loyal clientele and closed after only three years of operation. Re-
enlisted in 2003, assigned to E Company (LRS) (Airborne) of the now-inactive 313 th Military Intelligence Battalion. Deployed to Iraq in 2005, taking part in
operations to provide a secure environment for the country's elections. Joined the 75th Ranger Regiment in 2006 with E Company's inactivation, participated
in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan throughout 2007 and 2008. Fluent in French, conversant in Spanish.
