7.1 INTRODUCTION
Mainly water proofing is done for the protection of retaining walls, slabs, brick walls etc. We are
doing water proofing for
1. Bathrooms
2. Flower trough
3. Balancing tank
4. Swimming pool etc.
Water proofing is done under method statements.

7.2 MATERIALS USED FOR WATER PROOFING

2. K11 slurry
7.2.1 K11 FLEX
Water proofing work

: - Water proofing work to Toilets

Davco K11 Flex is a two component cementitious flexible membrane. The product consists of
a 25 kg powder and a 17 liter liquid. The product is a brush application. Davco K11 Flex is a
flexible 2 part acrylic-modified cementitious water proofing system. The 2 components of Davco
K11 Flex react chemically after mixing to form a hard and elastic film which bonds tenaciously to
most concrete or masonry substrates to protect against possible ingress of water.

Surface preparation
Clean the substrate of any protrusions or substances that may damage the membrane.
Ensure all surfaces are free from dirt, dust, grease, oil, wax, and curing components.
Fill all voids, cracks, edges and angle with Davco Lapgrout 60 or suitable repair material
so that the prepared surface is sound, even clean.
Mixing and application
Put Davco K11 Flex liquid into clean mixing container. Add the Davco K11 Flex powder
gradually while mixing until a lump free plastic is achieved. No addition of water is allowed. It is
recommended that mechanical mixing (400-500 rpm).
Prewet the surface with clean water. Do not allow pooling or Ponding. Very porous surface must
be primed with Davco 4 in 1 primer flex/ additive prior to apply Davco K11 Flex. Apply the
mixed material onto the prepared surface using a block brush.
7.2.2 K11 SLURRY
Water proofing work : -Water proofing to Flower Trough
Davco K11 Slurry is 2 component cementitious crystallization slurry. The product consists of a 25
kg powder and a 9 litres liquid. The product is a brush application.
The application
The product is applied directly on the concrete surface. Therefore any cement mortar etc, on
the surface must be removed by main contractor. The surface is then inspected. If honeycomb
existing it will be hacked and patched.
For vertical brick/block wall it must be plastered semi rough with a thin plaster to the full
height of the flower trough walls.

The surface is then thoroughly cleaned. Once the surface preparation is completed .the surface
is wetted prior to application of water proofing.
Davco K11 Slurry powder and liquid are mixed with a mechanical mixer to ensure proper
dispersion of the components. The first coat is applied on the concrete surface. Second coat
application is undertaken when the first coat is tacky.
7.3 METHOD STATEMENT FOR WATER PROOFING OF BATHROOMS
Product : - Davco K 11 Flex
The R.C.C surface should be thoroughly cleaned. All mortar, debris to be removed
All vertical Brick/block work should be completed to a height of 300mm from the finish
floor level and at shower area a height of 1800mm from the finish floor level should be
completed.
In areas where vertical section meets horizontal sections, a fillet will be formed at this
intersection point in order to eliminate the sharp edge.
All honeycombs should be repaired with construction grout.
On completion of the above the surface will be cleaned once more.
Davco K 11 Flex is now mixed using a mechanical mixer.
The first coat is applied and allowed to dry for 2-3 hours.
The second coat is applied.
Once the application is completed the area should be ponded for a period of 48 hours.
The water proofing area should be protected with a screed on completion of the pone test
to prevent any damages to the water proofing membrane.

7.4 METHOD STATEMENT FOR WATER PROOFING OF FLOWER THROUGH

Product: - Davco K 11 Slurry
The R.C.C surface should be thoroughly cleaned. All mortar, debris to be removed
