Graduation

Hi my name is Frank OGrady, I am a graduate Chemical and

Biochemical Engineer in UL. There was ample support tailored to the
modules we undertook for people who had never studied chemistry or
physics, or that needed help with mathematics. Due to the small class
numbers, lecturers were personally known and very approachable,
which made help easy to find. Throughout the four years learning was
both hands on and theoretical, incorporating industry standard
technology and support tutorials for many modules. First year centered
on essential science and engineering subjects, while later years became
more course specific to chemical engineering with a variety of group
and individual projects. I worked for an orthopedic company for my co-

operative education, which highlights the draw and appeal of this

course even outside the chemical and biochemical industry. This
experience greatly increased my confidence and professional skill set.
Although the course is intense there is time to socialise as I was an
active member of the windsurfing club. I had many offers and I secure
employment before I graduated in one of the worlds largest
pharmaceutical companies where I provide process engineering support
for pharmaceutical products. The University of Limerick has been an
amazing experience with a great atmosphere and I would recommend
this rewarding, diverse, exciting course with many job prospects for
anyone up for the challenges.
