Bologna Process
The Bologna process primarily refers to restructuring of
higher education systems in Europe, focusing on promotion of
student and staff mobility to create the European Higher Education
Area by 2010. The Bologna process is named after the Bologna
Declaration, a document, which was signed in Bologna by higher
education ministers from 29 European countries on June 19, 1999.
Croatia signed the Bologna Declaration in May 2001, in Prague. By
signing the Bologna Declaration on national level, Croatia accepted
provisions of Magnae Chartae Universitatum, which was adopted in
1988 by confederation of European Union Rectors' Conferences. By
becoming involved in the Bologna Process, Croatia committed itself
to reform its higher education system to adapt it to achievements of
the Declaration objectives.
The main goals of the Bologna Declaration are:

PROFESSIONAL STUDY PROGRAMME - PLANT
PRODUCTION
ORIENTATIONS IN HORTICULTURE AND FARMING
Students enrolled in professional study program of Plant
Production with orientation in Horticulture and Farming gain their
knowledge in almost all fields of agricultural production, especially
knowledge needed for work with horticultural plants and crops. Main
goal of this study is to educate competent specialists and teach
them how to independently manage technological processes in all
phases of horticultural production and farming. The concept of the
program is to teach students how to creatively apply best
technological and economical solutions in horticulture and farming,
which they mastered through lectures, international trainings and
seminars. Curriculum of this study is oriented towards students
needs and provide them with knowledge, which enables them to
successfully deal with problems of horticulture and farming family
farms.
The study program is organized upon a model of professional
studies carried out at in the European Union and worldwide
(Greenmount College - Northern Ireland, Modesto Junior College
-California, Harper Adams College - UK etc.). Within this study
program, students are educated to become experts in vegetable,
flower and fruit production, in farming and viticulture, as well as in
creating concepts of landscape arrangements and greenhouse
production.
Well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, practice halls,
computer room and greenhouse are at disposal for realization of the
study program. There is also a nearby field and mechanization
equipment at disposal for students practical training. Subsistence
and accommodation for students is provided by the Student Centre
in Slavonski Brod.
The study program last for six semesters during which
students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge. After
completion of the study program, a student is awarded an academic
title:

PROFESSIONAL STUDY PROGRAM - PRODUCTION
ENGINEERING
Mechanical Engineering is oriented towards creation of new
values, being therefore an important factor in development of
community. Achievements in technology are nowadays mostly
resulting from scientific research work and developments, so there
is an obvious need for well-educated professionals in engineering.
Professionals in mechanical engineering shall possess knowledge in
different technical sciences and also have some basic knowledge in
social sciences.
Within their study in Production Engineering, students gain
knowledge and skills that enable them to work independently within
all technological processes in all areas of production, such as design
of products, production preparation, processing, control, equipment
maintenance and environment protection. Students are educated to
design simple constructions and tools, to use CAD software, to
select materials and technology for production and to provide
logistic support to production.
Graduates from this study program can work in the following
fields:
Operative preparation for production
Technological preparation for production
Organization and supervision of contemporary production
processes
Organization and methods of maintenance for equipment,
tools and power plans
logistic support to production and other processes
quality control and laboratory testing
purchase of materials
presentation of products and company
entrepreneurship related to different areas of mechanical
engineering
sales and purchase of machines, devices and parts for their
maintenance
Future job position of our graduates is primarily focused on
issues in production technology. Mechanical engineers can work in

The library of the College of Slavonski Brod disposes of a
holding of about 800 different titles (about 1500 copies in total),
and that number continuously increases each year. The literature
required for all three study programs is equally represented. Home
students use all available scientific and technical literature for
preparation of their seminars, for practical problem solving, for
exams preparation as well as for preparation of their final theses.
