Advantage: 1. The reaction occurs at temperature between 21 oC and 82oC, it is desirable and a significant commercial advantage because low energy required to achieve the temperature. 2. The process can be speed up by using agitation of the solution by bubbling air through an upright tank. 3. Relatively low number of process unit allowing the system to be transportable and occupy a relatively small area. 4. The reaction between iron and hydrochloric acid is complete and stoichiometry.
Disadvantage:
Give off highly toxic hydrogen chloride fumes when mixed with water
