The Darling

Olenka:
the daughter of a retired collegiate assessor. Very beautiful, but is also emotional, gentle,
soft-hearted, compassionate, mild and tender eyes. Easily sways with the opinions around
her and follows those that are closes to her. Is referred to as "darling" for her sweet
personality and willingness to give.

Plemyanniakov:
Olenkas Father - A retired collegiate assessor has fallen ill and dies in the beginning of
the story. Olenka's first male figure.
he had little influence on olenka because plemyanniakov already dead at the beginning of
the story, but because him, olenka want to look like the figure of the father.

Kukin:
neighbor of Olenka manages the open air theater. Becomes Olenkas first husband and
dies when he works in Moscow. Described as a small thin man, yellow face, with curls, talks
in a thin tenor voice with an expression of despair, but had a deep genuine affection in
Olenka.
kukin can changes olenka, kukin behave like a lady, he always helped her in her work in the
theather.

Vassily Andreitch Pustovalov:

Olenka's neighbor is a merchant from a timber yard. He comforts her after the death of
Kukin and falls in love with Olenka. Falls ill from a cold and later dies a few months later.
Olenka's third male figure.
he can make olenka a forgeted previous husband who died and forgeted theather which she
do it. After they are get married Olenka always going to the church. Its all affectation from
pustovalov.

Smirnin:
a veterinary surgeon has separated from his wife who has his son, left her because of
unfaithfulness. Easily embarrassed by Olenka. Olenka's fourth male figure.
because influential of smirnin, olenka met with sasha. Smirnin has changed the nature of
olenka who were not concerned with small children now turned into a loving little boy.

Sasha:
Smirnins son from his previous marriage attends school and is very intelligent. Parents
abandoned him for work and social lives so was raised by Olenka. This is the last male
figure that Olenka cares for, but smothers him with maternal love as compared to her
previous husbands/male figures.
olenka love sasha as long, as there are no small children in her life,.olenka even feel
that Sasha was like his own daughter. every Sasha want to go to school olenka followed
her to the school gate so Sasha become shame.

Does the women like olenka still exist nowadays?

I think people like olenka may still exist because someone can not live alone and need a friend
who can accompany him alive. Until now much heard from many women who would shake her
founding. Many people like olenka who easy to fall in love, especially she is looking for another
figure to replace her father had just died, he is the first man in her life.
