BEIJING, China (CNN) -- Human error was to blame for China's worst train accident
in more than a decade, China's official news agency reported.
Additionally, one of the trains was traveling over its speed limit, Chinese
authorities were quoted as saying in the official Xinhua News Agency.
Two passenger trains collided in eastern China's Shandong province Monday
morning, killing at least 70 and injuring 420, the Xinhua said.
One train on its way from Beijing to Qingdao, a city in eastern China, derailed and
crashed into a train which was traveling from the Shandong city of Yantai to Xuzhou in
the eastern Jiangsu Province, according to a report by the state-run Xinhua news
agency.

The wreck happened in the city of Zibo in Shandong Province at 4:43 a.m., the
report said. Xinhua said the collision was the deadliest train accident in the country
since 1997.
"It [the train] toppled 90 degrees to one side and then all the way to the other
side," a passenger named Zhang was quoted in Xinhua. "When it finally went of the
tracks, many people fell on me and hot water poured out of their thermos flasks."
Local villagers joined police officers and medical workers in the rescue efort,
breaking train windows with farm tools to pull out stranded passengers, Xinhua said.
Survivors also joined in, using blankets from sleeper cars as stretchers to lift the
seriously injured from the stricken carriages.

Dear Upset

Dear Upset,
Little brothers and sisters can be annoying. Here is some advice that may help you.
First, talk to your mother about your felling so that she understands how upset you are. Do this at a time
when you are not angry with your little sister because you will make more sense when you speak.
Next, ask your little sister nicely to share the TV with you. She may cooperate as a result of your polite
behavior. However, if she doesnt want to talk with you, dont be angry. There would be no point arguing
with her. Instead, just walk away.
Finally, instead of having your friends coming to your house, go to their place. I hope this advice
improves your life with your little sister.
Good Luck.

Recent fuel prices have led to increase the prices of other services and commodities. The Jakarta
Post asked two media workers who spent a lot of their income on transportation expenses.
Sony Arianto Kurniawan, 28, is a media worker in JL. HR. Rasuna Said, South Jakarta. He lives in
Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta. I think the government is pretty smart raising fuel prices just before the
fasting month because people are normally more economical. But its impact on my daily transportation
expenditure is pretty steep. Later on, the increases will affect everything, including my food and clothing
expenditures:
Rusdianto, 30, is a reporter who works in Tebet, South Jakarta. He lives in Pondok Gede, Bekasi.
I reckon my daily spending has risen about 40 percent now, that includes the cost for the transportation
and meals, and theres nothing I can do about it, except maybe to find side-jobs:

Needless to say, the recent fuel prices have triggered the prices of many services and
commodities, which then considerably reduce the peoples purchasing power.
