Descriptions of Major Components

2SK1058 MOSFET: Operating in its saturation region this MOS acts as an amplifier. To

ensure saturation region we make sure the Vgs > Vth and Vds >= Vgs-Vth.
Variable Resistors:
1) 50K: This resistor acts as a volume control to the input signal.

2)100K: This Resistor is used to bias the MOS to ensure operation in saturation region.
Capacitors: All capacitors are used as a filter to the input voltage with the exception of

the 0.47F which is input capacitance and 4700F which is the output capacitance.
Audio Jack: Used to provide input from the user.
Speaker: provides the output.

Calculations
Simulating the designed circuit in proteus helped us in calculating the gain.
We know that
Gain=Vout/Vin
Our selected Vin was 20mV.
Received Vout was 80mV
So Gain = 80mV/20mV = 4
Attached is the received waveform.

We also had to properly bias the MOS.

For proper biasing we know that Vds = VDD/2
Our VDD = 24V
Required Vds = 12 V
This can be achieved by adjustment of the 100K variable resistor.
Power was also calculated
When the device was operating at optimum efficiency.
V= 24v

I=0.7A

P=VI
P= (24) * (0.7)
P= 16.4 Watts
However this circuit causes major heat loss from the MOS and the Rd resistors. Efficiency is very
much dropped due to heat loss.
