- Intermediate Adult ESL Class
Objectives: Students are able to
- review the types of comparisons of adjectives and nouns,
o adjectives - (x is greater/less than y; x is more/less competitive than y)
o nouns (x has more/fewer books than y; x has more/less water than y)
- review the types of comparisons of verbs and adverbs
o verbs - (x works more/less than y)
o adverbs (x runs much/less faster/slower than y)
- use prefer x to y and would prefer (to do)/would rather (do) - (new materials)
Previous lessons: Students have
- learned types of comparisons of nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs.

Is today hotter than yesterday?
How is the traffic when you come to school this morning?
Does it take longer for you to get here this morning?
T shows the types of comparisons that students have learned slide.
T informs Ss todays objectives that have to do with our choices.
T writes Choices the easiest and the most difficult choices.
T shares a couple of thoughts on choice making.
T asks Ss to talk to their partners to share the following two questions.
What is the easiest choice that you have made?
What is the most difficult choices that you have made?
T concludes with some Ss sharing.

T shows the map of Chicagoland.
T asks Ss to show where they live.
T asks their knowledge about Chicagoland

T answers and write the conversation on the board.
T leads students to practice that conversation.
Ss are given 5 minutes to interview their classmates
Ss are regrouped and shared some their findings.
Icebreaker Questions: Getting to know you
There are 30 questions.
T uses the first question to demonstrate different ways to answer.
Ss asks T the 1st question; T writes answers on the board.
Ss have 5 minutes to ask their classmates and write down the answers.
Ss pick up 1 of questions and write answers on the board.
T regroups Ss.
Ss read what they wrote on the board.
T concludes this session.
T reviews what they have learned by asking them authentic questions
that relate to their lives.
The class is going to practice more on preferto, would
prefer/rather in the next class.
Ss are encouraged to use the questions with their friends.
