Regulations for the Award of Degree of 4-Years Full Time
Bachelor of Design (Interior Design & Graphics & Visual Communication)
Programme (B.Des)
(To be effective from June, 2016)

General
The University shall undertake and supervise the instructions and
award Bachelor's
Degree in Design. Specialization offered will be 1. Interior Design, 2.
Graphics and Visual Communication.
1. Nomenclature:
Bachelor of Design (B. Des)
2. Duration
The duration of course will be four (04) years, divided into Eight (8)
semesters. The duration of each semester will be 90 teaching days.
Here in B.Des programmes 1 to 6 Semesters will be a Teaching
Semesters and 7th Semester will comprise of Practical Internship.
3. Duration of Semester
The semester consisting of a minimum 450 contact hours.
4. Eligibility for Admission
The eligibility for admission shall be as per the notification of Ganpat
University as prescribed from time to time. The Eligibility criteria for
admission Applications for Academic Year 2016-17 is open to applicants who

have passed or will appear for the qualifying examinations under the higher
secondary (10+2) from any recognized Board of Education such as
AISSCE/IB/ICSE, or equivalents, during the academic year 2015-16 or Later.

Eligibility for Appearing at Semester End Examination


Eligibility for appearing at any semester end examination shall be
granted provided,
5.1 The student has registered minimum 80% attendance in each
course of that semester;
5.2 The students has to submit the term work journals/reports,
assignments etc. in time which shall be acceptable; and
5.3 The student has shown good conduct and behavior in the
campus during the semester.
5.4 Up to 10% of deficiency in attendance can be condoned by the
Director of the University on the recommendation of the Head of
the Institute.

6. Evaluation Pattern and Standard of Passing


6.1. Evaluation Pattern
6.1.1 The Examination Scheme of each course shall be divided into
four head of passing as under, if any.
Theory Continuous Assessment
Theory Semester-end Assessment
Laboratory Work Continuous Assessment
Laboratory Work Semester-end Assessment
6.1.2 For each course, the Continuous Evaluation and Semester-end
examination shall carry 60% and 40% weightage of the total
course weightage respectively.
6.1.3 The Continuous Evaluation component of 60% weightage shall
have following heads and shall be announced by the
department/institute at the beginning of the semester;
Internal Theory/Laboratory Test: 35 % weightage
Assignment, Seminar, Quiz or other relevant work: 50%
weightage
Attendance: 15% weightage
6.2 Standard of Passing and Eligibility to the Next Semester
6.2.1 The minimum passing marks for particular course shall be 40% in
each head of passing.
6.2.2 The candidate shall eligible to study in higher semester, if s/he
has backlog of less than 10 cumulative credits after declaration
of Semester End Examination Result.
6.2.3 The candidate who has backlog of less than 10 cumulative
credits shall appear in semester end examination during next
examination cycle in the courses in which s/he has backlogs.
6.2.4 The candidate who has backlog of 10 or more than 10
cumulative credits shall be detained in particular semester. Such
candidate has to repeat the courses in which s/he has backlogs
with the regular students in the next year and shall appear in
next successive examinations. He/she has to pay the repeat
course fee as per GNU policy.
6.2.5 The first three years and last two years of 4-year B.Des.
programme shall consider as a first stage and second stage
respectively. The candidates shall be eligible to study in second
stage of the programme those have not any backlogs of first
stage.
6.2.6 The non-credit courses i.e. Related Study Programme & Summer
Workshops shall be considered as a part of programme. The
result of such courses shall be reflected in marksheet as
Attended or Not attended. The candidate has to
attend minimum 03 Related Study Programmes and 04 summer

workshops failing which the result of final


concerned candidate shall be kept withheld.

A student, who has passed all the semesters and has satisfied all
the mandatory requirements like study tours, electives, summer
workshops, shall be eligible for the award of the Bachelor of
Architecture (B. Des.).
