Activities
Lesson A: Classmates
Beginning: Students look at the picture on page 12 and
describe what they see.
Development: They read and listen to a teacher taking
attendance (page 12) and identify where some of the
students are. They use the same text to complete on
their own, the questions and answers at the bottom of
page 12. The teacher explains the use of verb TO BE
with pronouns HE, SHE, IT and THEY in affirmative,
negative and interrogative sentences and students
complete questions and answers with the right words on
page 13.
Finally, students listen to the same teacher from the first
exercise taking the attendance again and match the
students with the place where they are.
Closing: Students talk about where some of their
classmates, friends and family are.
Lesson B: Whats in your bag?
Beginning: Students talk about the things they have in
their bags and their answers are written on the board.
Development: The teacher explains the use of the article
A/AN and write it next to each of the items the
students previously said. Students listen and say the
names of the classroom items on page 14 and then write
A/AN before each of them.

Lesson D: On average
Beginning: The teacher writes the days of the week on the
board. Then he/she says: I watch TV two hours every

The teacher explains the use of frequency adverbs and
students choose some of them to complete the sentences in
exercise 2-1 (same page).
Volunteers read the types of TV shows on page 47 and say
examples for each of them. Then, students listen to different
TV shows and write a number next to the type of show they
hear.
Finally, they complete a chart about shows they like and dislike
and read their preferences to the class.
