SIGNIFICANCE OF ADVANCED MANUFACTURING

Advanced Manufacturing does not have a single definition, it can be defined by various
ways. Advanced Manufacturing is a manufacturing cycle for producing products and
processes in a productive way. This technology is used to produce many innovations
and it has changed the aspect of the customer in the manufacturing process. To meet
the increasing global demand & economy, Advanced Manufacturing is the real solution.
The Advanced Manufacturing has been very successful in those enterprises in which
the focus of the industry is not only on product. Advanced Manufacturing consists of
many stages which include concept, r&d and all the stages which include the sales
strategy. It has helped to add a lot of value in the supply chain related enterprises.
According to the recent trends manufacturers will produce their product more nearer to
the market as it was used to be and the technical labor demand will increase which will
eventually increase wages in Asia and there will be increase in the shipping cost of the
product. This model of market has already taken significance in the countries like UK
and USA.In 2013, half of the surveyed manufacturing leaders voted for bringing back
the production sites to USA from China and other countries.
Different Characteristics connected with Advanced Manufacturing:
1. Using Configuring to Order (CTO) & Engineering to Order (ETO) along with
project based manufacturing and mixed mode production.
2. Great emphasis is done on the Demand based manufacturing
3. Customer focused manufacturing system is used to improve the customer
experience.

Ripple Effect of Advanced Manufacturing on the economy.

SIGNIFICANCE OF TOUCHLESS TECHNOLOGY IN ADVANCED MANUFACTURING

INDUSTRIES
Many industries are at the inflection point with an investment return of possibility of
replacing the manual labor with machines following Touchless technology. According to
the survey of growth trends, it is said that from the next decade growth of installation of
advanced touchless technologies in the industry will increase from 3 percent to 10
percent annually and in some industries 40 percent of the manufacturing is done by the
touchless machines. This trend will eventually lead to global competitiveness among the
manufacturing economies in the next era. The prices of the hardware needed for
touchless manufacturing machines are expected to drop by 20 percent in the next
decade and at the same time the performance of the touchless machines is expected to

increase by 5 percent each year. The decrease in the price of this technology will lead
to integrate the technology deeply into the industry. According to the survey done by the
Boston Consulting Group on 25 leading manufacturing industries, every task in those
industries can be replaced by the touchless technology machines rather than a laborer.

Different characteristics found by the research:

1. Touchless manufacturing is at the take off point in many sectors- Till 2025,
shared manufacturing tasks done by the technology will increase from 10 percent
to 25 percent globally. Cost and the technology of the touchless technology will
be a big key factor in the advanced manufacturing industries.
2. Adoption of Touchless Technologies will vary in every sector- 4 type of industries
are at the top of adopting touchless manufacturing that is Computer & Electronics
products, Electric equipment, Transportation equipment & Machinery where there
is a rise of 75 percent.
3. The Surging of Manufacturing Productivity- The output per worker will increase
by 30 percent by the small manufacturers with the adoption of touchless
technology which will eventually lead to adaptation of lean practices for improving
productivity.
4. Importance of Labor Cost- By 2025, in USA the labor costs are expected to fall to
18-25 percent.
5. National Cost Competitiveness will be decided by Touchless TechnologyManufacturing cost competitiveness will improve by the adaptation of touchless
manufacturing.
6. Increase in the demand of Advance Manufacturing Skills- The demand of
workers will increase who have mastery of automation and programming skills

which will eventually replace the low cost labor as the key driver of manufacturing
industry.

How to prepare for the Touchless Technological Revolution:

1. The Global Landscape is needed to be understand- The Advanced
Manufacturing industries need to understand the clear picture of adopting the
Touchless technology. The Price and performance of the adaptation will vary from
the existing labor system. The labor laws and the availability of labor will change
the whole industry.
2. The whole competition will be Benchmarked- It will become a absolute necessity
to know the strategy and technology of the competitor industry and the total cost
of the system will eventually fall
3. Be Technologically Active- The industries will need to stay current in the evolving
capabilities of advanced manufacturing technology. Cost effectiveness of the
technology, improvement of prices and opportunities for small scale
manufacturers will increase accordingly.

4. Handling of Workforce- To reap the benefits of the latest technology the

industries need to make their networks more flexible by proper handling of
workforce

SIGNIFICANCE OF INTEGRATIVE PROCESSES IN ADVANCED MANUFACTURING

SECTOR

The Integrative process manufacturing is very difficult to define but in primitive nature
that manufacturing processes which can be controlled by a single source relative to
each other fall under the category of Integrative Manufacturing Processes. A Integrated
Manufacturing system would need a high degree of coordination and control over the
various prismatic manufacturing processes. This type of manufacturing process
adaptation on Batch mode manufacturing can bring large differences in the cost of the
product as high as 30 to 1. This type of nmanufacturing processes has already been
existing for a long time but the early systems included manually driven machines. The
key breakthrough was the reliability design and comparable low cost control systems
due to which economical favorable standard mechanical functions was used. Due to
that the production system was more accurate inspite of existing complex systems of
manufacturing operations. A totally automated shop floor boosted the efficiency of the
production. Due to large capital investment of the tool cutting order 3 shift working
increased the production of the most of the companies. The total cost was segregated
among the machines and the control systems equally due to which the companies were
able to tackle the problems with comprehensive controlled systems and additionally with
extended running a more reliable production system was able to be made.

SOLID FREEDOM FABRICATION (SFF)

It is a type additive manufacturing concept which uses computer generated models and
CAD files to convert it to individual and horizontally inclined designed layers of very
small dimensions like 2-2.5 in size. In the fabrication process, different layers are firstly
deposited created by photosensitive liquid resin using Photo polymer based processes.

ZERO WASTE PROCESSES

These are those processes in which all the resources are utilized and the defective or
waste material is again utilized to potray zero waste for the industry.
