Advanced Manufacturing does not have a single definition, it can be defined by various
ways. Advanced Manufacturing is a manufacturing cycle for producing products and
processes in a productive way. This technology is used to produce many innovations
and it has changed the aspect of the customer in the manufacturing process. To meet
the increasing global demand & economy, Advanced Manufacturing is the real solution.
The Advanced Manufacturing has been very successful in those enterprises in which
the focus of the industry is not only on product. Advanced Manufacturing consists of
many stages which include concept, r&d and all the stages which include the sales
strategy. It has helped to add a lot of value in the supply chain related enterprises.
According to the recent trends manufacturers will produce their product more nearer to
the market as it was used to be and the technical labor demand will increase which will
eventually increase wages in Asia and there will be increase in the shipping cost of the
product. This model of market has already taken significance in the countries like UK
and USA.In 2013, half of the surveyed manufacturing leaders voted for bringing back
the production sites to USA from China and other countries.
Different Characteristics connected with Advanced Manufacturing:
1. Using Configuring to Order (CTO) & Engineering to Order (ETO) along with
project based manufacturing and mixed mode production.
2. Great emphasis is done on the Demand based manufacturing
3. Customer focused manufacturing system is used to improve the customer
experience.
increase by 5 percent each year. The decrease in the price of this technology will lead
to integrate the technology deeply into the industry. According to the survey done by the
Boston Consulting Group on 25 leading manufacturing industries, every task in those
industries can be replaced by the touchless technology machines rather than a laborer.
which will eventually replace the low cost labor as the key driver of manufacturing
industry.
The Integrative process manufacturing is very difficult to define but in primitive nature
that manufacturing processes which can be controlled by a single source relative to
each other fall under the category of Integrative Manufacturing Processes. A Integrated
Manufacturing system would need a high degree of coordination and control over the
various prismatic manufacturing processes. This type of manufacturing process
adaptation on Batch mode manufacturing can bring large differences in the cost of the
product as high as 30 to 1. This type of nmanufacturing processes has already been
existing for a long time but the early systems included manually driven machines. The
key breakthrough was the reliability design and comparable low cost control systems
due to which economical favorable standard mechanical functions was used. Due to
that the production system was more accurate inspite of existing complex systems of
manufacturing operations. A totally automated shop floor boosted the efficiency of the
production. Due to large capital investment of the tool cutting order 3 shift working
increased the production of the most of the companies. The total cost was segregated
among the machines and the control systems equally due to which the companies were
able to tackle the problems with comprehensive controlled systems and additionally with
extended running a more reliable production system was able to be made.
