This hat is worked circularly (in the round) from


base of brim to top of crown.
Size: Average Adult. To fit head sizes 21-24
Finished dimensions: 19" brim circumference and
23"circumference body of hat, 9 " height from
base of ribbing to top center of crown.
Measurements taken from relaxed fabric after
blocking
Yarn: 180-190 yards of DK weight wool yarn.
Gauge: 22 stitches and 28 rounds = 4 in
Stockinette Stitch with Needles 4.00 mm [US6],
before blocking
Needles: Circular Knitting Needles: 3.00 mm [US
2] and 4.00 mm [US6] 16" long. Double Pointed
Needles: 1 set 4.00 mm [US 6].
Tools: Stitch markers, blunt tapestry needle, cable
needle

Knit 2 together
Slip, Slip, Knit: Slip next stitch from left hand needle to right hand needle knit ways.
Slip next stitch the same way. Return both stitches to left hand needle in their new
twisted positions and k2tog
Insert the needle into the next 2 stitches as if you were going to knit two together,
but slip them onto the right hand needle instead. Knit 1. Pass the two slipped
stitches over the stitch just knit.
Purl 3 together
Slip the next 3 stitches onto cable needle and hold behind work. Knit the next 3
stitches from the left-hand needle, then knit the 3 stitches from the cable needle.
Slip the next 3 stitches onto cable needle and hold in front of work. Knit the next 3
stitches from the left-hand needle, then knit the 3 stitches from the cable needle.

Using smaller circular needle, cast on 120. Join in the round without twisting.
Rnds 1-13: Work in k2, p2 Rib.
Rnd 14: * knit 2, purl 2, knit 2, purl 1, m1, [purl 1, knit 2, purl 1] twice, purl 1, knit1, m1, knit 1, purl 2;
repeat from * to end (132 sts)
