1. Compare and contrast the self-service implementation between Wipro and
MHB. According to you, which company did a better job? Explain.
Ans.: Self-service implementation at Wipro:1. Proper collaboration between HR and IT
2. Adequate budget and funding was allocated according to the concerning work
3. There exist a high level executive and CEO commitment
4. Using the technology it facilitate any place any time access
5. There is a consistent look and feel
6. Proper channel for marketing employees communication
Self-service implementation at MBH:1. MBH didnt mention or clearly define what is the company need
2. They focused on how they are going to integrate as opposed to the users using the
system
3. Identify existing architecture i.e. back office processing and self-service are
different aspects
4. Decouple service level architecture from back office data gathering.
According to me Wipro did a better job because it has better service implementation while
implementation in MBH has to face number of challenges which were difficult to overcome
which are:
1. Time constraints of real time access and back office server
2. Complex modification to existing data was costly
3. Different user interface may decrease user satisfaction
2. Are the measures used by Wipro (i.e. costs, returns, and cycle time) appropriate
for evaluating their self-service implementation?
Ans.: Wipro has been evaluating the quantitative business side by measuring cost, return,
and cycle time to understand the complete value of the project. But while evaluating the value
of the project of any company we require qualitative measures, so we may not know how
accurate it is. Even though the self-evaluation of the Wipros internal self-service
implementation report seems thorough and objective, but towards the conclusion when tables
used various IT applications show their progress. Hence it is not a suitable measures for
evaluation.
3. What would happen to the self-service implementation at MBH if the company
decided to adapt the SOA model? Does self-service implementation make it
easier or more difficult to implement SOA? Explain.
Ans.: Service oriented architecture is a System development model which represent
object oriented architecture for web-platform. SOA decomposes the service into
smaller, distinct units of service and encourages these services to comply with the
certain design principles like existing autonomously, yet to evolve independently of
each other. So if the company decide to adapt the SOA model then it will help them as
Data Bridge between the compatible technologies and service can exist anywhere
Self-service implementation will make it difficult to implement SOA as it is costly,
time consuming and requires sophisticated system.
