Ego, Alter Ego, Demon Ego and Divine Ego... what

comes next: the Digital-Ego? What means to be a
human in modern times?

"Ego is a Latin word meaning "I", which derives from the Greek word "
(Ego)" meaning "I", often used in English to indicate the "self", "identity" or
other related concepts. Definitions and relations of such an entity to the world
in various psychological models of religious, spiritual, scientific and medical
traditions can vary significantly. It is one of three aspects of the human
psyche, along with the id and super-ego in the psychological models of

Along my travels and life abroad, in 2011, Germany for

example, i met several travelers with unique ideas regarding
their SELF. But noting impressed me more as when one of the
children that i was supporting on learning methodologies,
coaching for his school, show me his: Demon Ego, and made
one of the most strange faces i ever see.

"

I realized the demon ego was a normal idea he shared at

school and for those kids was a common play to do.
Where this idea would fit into Sigmund Freud structures of
psyche?

"

A note here that Sigmund Freud work have never been verified
by neuroscience, so far i am informed, there for is more a
concept, a perception model, and do not refer to actual science.

"

Any case, the idea of ego has been widely used.

Jung pointed out that knowledge of the ego-personality is often confused with
self-understanding:
"Anyone who has any ego-consciousness at all takes it for granted that he
knows himself. But the ego knows only its own contents, not the unconscious
and its contents. People measure their self-knowledge by what the average
person in their social environment knows of himself, but not by the real
psychic facts which are for the most part hidden from them. In this respect the
psyche behaves like the body, of whose physiological and anatomical
structure the average person knows very little too". [The Undiscovered Self,
CW 10, par. 491.]
"The ego stands to the self as the moved to the mover, or as object to
subject, because the determining factors which radiate out from the self
surround the ego on all sides and are therefore supraordinate to it. The self,
like the unconscious, is an a priori existent out of which the ego

Self-awareness takes a very important role for human daily life,

personal development and self-knowledge. While when the
individual faces the opportunity and possibility of an objective
management of subconscious self, what can we tell ? is that
feasible?

"

Joung and Freud, western in their origin, had also influences of

eastern cultures.

"

In most of eastern cultures, meditation, yoga, martial arts, work

on the idea that one can be self-aware, fully.

"

So far, how can that be demonstrated? the western culture

eventually has no space for those experiences or verifications
to take place. for example the idea of martial arts in western
world is perceived from its relative function: "fight, combat, selfdefense" while even within the martial arts circles, martial arts is
and have never been about fighting, but self.

Only in modern times with mixed martial arts, and cage battles,
the idea of fight clubs became popular, as for the applications of

skills developed through the art. But what about how the art
help the individual evolve in self-awareness?
Bruce Lee, known by his philosophical approach to the art refer
to its practice as the combination between: instinct,
subconscious mind, and control, method. The balance between
the unknown and the known. Ying & Yang.

How do a western understand that possibility of a path

dedicated to personal development through martial arts, after
Joung and Freud? Apparently that possibility would not exist.

"

According to the perception model developed by both of them.

But does the ego exist from the point of view of neuroscience?

"

So here is where my story continues.

"

How instinct, is so necessary for modern western culture to reactivate its capacity of survival, self-awareness and selfresponsibility regarding the destiny of their society, family,
individuals and culture.

"

Comfort and individuals interest, have replaced 'life threatening

situations"and challenges life would normally bring to those
living in the wild.

"

The Instinct-self, takes here a key role, for survival, personal

development and self-knowledge. Bruce Lee would have been
correctly understood by those living in the wild. As for those that
have faced the unpredictable challenges and conditions of the
wild, they know, that only pure instinct and subconscious self,
combined with learned skills, could have safe their lives so
many times.

This idea is not strange for military. We can refer to experiences

shared after war, where individuals were able to survive thanks
to the activation of unique qualities that would appear only
under extreme conditions.

"

But what about the training of martial arts and war received on
advanced? if correctly given would have created an stable soil
for the military force to be grounded at the time of facing life
risking challenges.

"

The demon ego, which role does it have for modern culture and
teenagers? just to make a face visible that is weird or ugly or to
express that side of human psyche that has been repressed.
the underworld side of life, of own life, taking form, personality,
self.

"

While developing the perception model of the 9+ stages of

development i found a challenge, in the sense of the archaic
use of the labels i was planning to use. but actually, the reason
of my concern was indeed the path to take. In the subconscious
collective mind, the myths and legends are still alive. The
journey of the Hero, as J, Campbell will refer to.

"

So, it would be easy for any individual, that had a conscious or

subconscious relationship with the ideas the labels will refer to
to identify the meaning of them.

"

The warrior, the diplomat, the mystic, the demigod and the god,
refer to ideas most of the world, known and not know, may
agree are familiar to them, to their history and culture.
Along the time i was writing the I Ching Theta, Book of
primordial changes, where ternary and nonary (uni)verses
coexist in a multi-verse reality (multidimensional,
quantum,fractal, holographic reality), the 9+ stages of
development took a new form of self-expression through the 9
Genders.

The 9 Genders are a system of 9 basic combination of forces,

or presence of active principles, core and self-expression result
of combining the male, female and theta qualities. Taking theta
as that principle expressed by the primordial core of all that is
have been and will be within own heart.

Transactional analysis is a psychoanalytic theory and method of therapy

wherein social transactions are analyzed to determine the ego state of the
patient (whether parent-like, child-like, or adult-like) as a basis for
understanding behavior. In transactional analysis, the patient is taught to alter
the ego state as a way to solve emotional problems. The method deviates
from Freudian psychoanalysis which focuses on increasing awareness of the
contents of unconsciously held ideas. Eric Berne developed the concept and
paradigm of transactional analysis in the late 1950s. " ( WIKIpedia )

The transactional analysis, shifted to a matrix type of analysis,

where the 9+ stages of development, 9+ stages of Love and the
9 Genders give to our assessment a new possibility to stand the
knowledge of what human kind is, at the moment of perception,
with the awareness and perception abilities and background
knowledge we do have at the moment.

The warrior ego, diplomat ego, mystic ego, demigod-ego and

divine ego, will fit into a map with the primordial ego. If those
functions of the human psychology can be observed or
registered in segments of society that shows those traits.

"

The human potential studies of the LDMF Foundation intent to

find out more about what the self-is, and how the use of a

families, communities, society and in general cultures, find out

more permanent modality, traits that have been preset, or

previously observed.

The distribution 1-9-90, needs to be verified. but not only

through the observation of relative traits present in individuals
studied, but in the DNA code. The verification of those traits in
the human genome study, would change human society for
good.

The alter ego and the digital self, seems both to have a direct
relationship with each other. Would be then possible to tell that
the 9+ Stages of development may suggest levels of "evolution"
of an alter ego?

"

An alter ego (Latin, "the other I") is a second self, which is believed to be
distinct from a person's normal or original personality. A person who has an
alter ego is said to lead a double life. The term appeared in common usage in
the early 19th century when dissociative identity disorder was first described
by psychologists.[1] Cicero first coined the term as part of his philosophical
construct in 1st century Rome, but he described it as "a second self, a trusted
friend".[2]
A distinct meaning of alter ego can be found in literary analysis, wherein it
describes characters in different works who are psychologically similar, or a
fictional character whose behavior, speech or thoughts intentionally represent
those of the author. It's also used to designate the best friend of another
character in a story. Similarly, the term alter ego may be applied to the role or
persona taken on by an actor or by other types of performers.
The existence of "another self" was first recognized in the 1730s. Anton
Mesmer used hypnosis to separate the alter ego. These experiments showed
a behavior pattern that was distinct from the personality of the individual when
he was in the waking state compared to when he was under hypnosis.
Another character had developed in the altered state of consciousness but in
the same body.
Alter ego is also used to refer to the different behaviors any person may
display in certain situations. Related concepts include avatar, doppelgnger,
impersonator, and dissociative identity disorder (DID) ( REF: WIKIPEDIA)

What to do in our modern digitalized culture when 30% daily

time is spend within the networks of a modern digital society?
the avatar(s) let individuals express and develop qualities of
themselves that they feel wish give attention to, and there for
find digital realities where to explore in them.

Gamification has given to modern world the possibility to

develop such a wonderful set of skills, but as well (Virtual reality
applied for games creation) the exploration into new realities, of
digital nature, that let individuals explore new possibilities of
experience, decision making, self-perception, self-awareness,
behavior, preferences, self.

"

Cosplay, bodyarts, become modern practices where individuals

and collective play alternative realities. With a great impact, on
body memory release, and as well release of a certain level of
trauma, as theater therapy would do.

"

But what if along daily life, roles are played, for real? LARP life
action role play, becomes a field of exploration, where
emotions, roles and realities can help individuals evolve in selfawareness, skills and experiences not available in daily life.
So, virtual games and corporate games (HHRR Gamified),
provide a new field of exploration, self-knowledge and personal
development.

The daily life ego, find then there a new multidimensional reality,
where at each world a new role can be taken and new skills and
intelligence can be developed.

"

The 9+ Stages of development is now just the first step of this

study, on gamification, personal development and selfknowledge. But an important step to be taken in a hybrid
society. Why hybrid? a digital reality, a transhumanic self (hybrid
techno, digital individuals), a posthumanic self (the next stage

after homosapiens), and all the stages of ego or forms, shapes

the human psyche may take according to environment,
challenge or interest, or stage of development.

Where ever it goes, humanity is evolving, its society is getting

complex and the identity with gender, culture, history, race,
personality, body, language, family, origin, location, is changing.
Technology, global culture and civilization development, creates
a new challenge, setting for individuals and families,
communities and organizations, locations and cultures to evolve
with.

"

May at this point of human evolution, when the question about

own self seems not to be so popular, the question about own
past and journey tribes went through to the modern civilization,
give human kind on earth a sense of a feeling, an intuition, on
where its evolution is heading to, there for a little chance some
individuals or eventually the whole species, would like to decide
to take responsibility over its own destiny, starting with selfknowledge and personal development.

"

The Human Potential Studies of the LDMF Foundation has the

purpose of creating a new field of exploration, learning and
enquire, on what humanity is and can become, when seen from
a matrix of perception models and distributions and the traits
found are taken as representative of segments of human
species, as for signs of its evolutionary process of development.

The final truth, will become tangible, as soon as the "models of

perception" used to know and define humanity become tangible
in the DNA studies, and there for, would those results help us
make a difference between concepts that suggests realities of a
psyche and condition human perception of own self, and reality
of human nature, and how the species itself leaves a trace in
own DNA, as for the impact of its development, evolutionary
process.
