The upgrade risk check package is used in the Software Management Expert (SME) on the
iManager M2000 Mobile Element Management System (referred to as M2000) for checking
whether a network element (NE) meets the upgrade requirements. The functions of the
upgrade risk check package include the upgrade feasibility check and upgrade risk check.
Read this document before using the 3900 Series LTE eNodeB upgrade risk check package.

2 Upgrade Risk Check

Upgrade Feasibility Check

The upgrade feasibility check includes the following check items:

Upgrade path of an NE

Version mapping relationship between the NE and other equipment

NE target version and Configuration Management Express (CME) version

NE target version and M2000 mediation version

NE target version and CME component kit version

The upgrade feasibility check is a prerequisite for the upgrade. You can perform the upgrade
feasibility check by creating an upgrade feasibility check task in the SME.
Figure 1.1 lists the upgrade feasibility check items.

Upgrade path check

Checks whether the current version of an NE can be

directly upgraded to the target version.

CME version check

Checks whether the CME whose version matches the NE

target version is installed on the M2000 server.

M2000 mediation version

check

Checks whether the mediation whose version matches the

NE target version is installed on the M2000 server.

CME component kit version

check

Checks whether the CME component kit whose version

matches the NE target version is installed on the M2000
server.

Upgrade Risk Check

The upgrade risk check is used to check the upgrade risks that may occur during the upgrade.
Corresponding preventive measures can be taken based on the checking result. You can
perform the upgrade risk check by creating an upgrade risk check task in the SME. This
version has no upgrade risk.
