Characteristics of Ideal Capacitor

Characteristics of an ideal capacitor Current through the capacitor is zero if the voltage across it is constant. A capacitor is therefore an open circuit to DC. A capacitor resists an abrupt change in the voltage across it An ideal capacitor never dissipates energy, but only stores it

Inductors

An inductor is typically a coil of conducting wire

Inductor stores energy in its magnetic field

Voltage across inductor is proportional to the rate of change of the current producing the magnetic field. Constant of proportionality is inductance, L
