Product Health -Update

Engine Idler Gear/Hub Bearing failures
Issue/Cause
Problem caused by an approved Process Change from a Carbide
Tool to a Diamond Tool Apr/03
Validated fix in effect in production (Mid-March/04)

Resolution
PIP in process Sept. 04.
Copper level in S-O-S to determine rework
<50 P.P.M- OK
50-100 P.P.M. Retest
>100 P.P.M Rework

Product Health -Update

Electronic Brake Charging Valve
Two issues
Lock nut for brake cut out pressure backing off
Noise during brake charging

Interim Solution
ICA double nut design ( to address backing off issue) in effect
3-24-04
Some failures of double nut design reported

Resolution
PCA involving spring and orifice modification- tested and
validated (lab and field)
Production effectivity of PCA expected 9-15-04
Parts in Morton 3rd week of September
PSP (before or after failure) anticipated 1st week of October

Product Health -Update

VLPM Failures
Issues/Causes
Failures seen on Original Parts
Caused by moisture ingress (Machine Wash) and shorting of
Capacitors
ICA involving sealing of wires and elimination of Capacitors in
effect Nov 03.
Some of the ICA parts failed All from the First Batch (Aug 03)
Investigation identified moisture ingress combined with close
spacing of +ve and ve as Root-Cause.

Resolution
2nd ICA involving RTV sealant @ +ve and VE terminals in effect
Final Fix involving larger spacing between +ve and ve
terminals. Test Parts procured for In-house and Field Tests
Final Fix estimated in Nov 04 at Perkins
Running Change with a CRB/Scrap callout for Parts

SWL General Purpose Buckets

NEW General-Purpose Buckets with
their flat floor and large radius offer
superior bucket load-ability,
increased machine cycle
productivity and improved fuel
efficiency. This bucket is
recommend for most applications.
NEW General-Purpose High Density
Buckets incorporate an angle floor
design that allows for higher bucket
density ratings and machine
dumping height. However, the
aggressive angle reduces the
machine productivity and efficiency
performance. This bucket is only
recommended for applications
where density and/or dump height
requirements are critical.
