RAD Rapid Application & Development

FactoryTalk View Site Edition
Global Objects

Display reuse with parameter passing

The same display can be used multiple times with the parameter passed to them using
tag placeholders that forms the tagname.

Symbol Factory and Object shading

Global objects let you link the appearance and behavior of a graphic object to multiple
copies of that object in the same application. When you make changes to the original
object, the copies are changed as well.

The Symbol Factory is a library of over 5,000 graphical objects optimized for high
performance for use in industrial automation HMI applications, Objects can be shaded fill.

Data Access Control

The External Access property allows you to specify the level of access (Read Only,
Read/Write, or None) external applications and devices have to tags.

Logix controllers will serve alarm information to FactoryTalk Alarms and Events
Services Banner. There are two instructions in the Logix controllers ALMA for Analog
alarm and ALMD for Digital alarm.

Tag Based Alarms

The FactoryTalk Alarms and Events Services centralize the distribution of device-based
and tag-based alarm data to run-time clients, through FactoryTalk alarm servers that
you add to a FactoryTalk View SE application.

Allows non Logix based controllers and third party devices to connect to FactoryTalk
alarms and events.

FactoryTalk View Command

You can associate a FactoryTalk View command with any alarm. The command is
executed from the Alarm and Event Summary or Alarm and Event Banner.

Utilizing SQL and Stored Procedures

FactoryTalk Transaction Manager
FactoryTalk Transaction Manager can move large amounts of data in
a fast and robust manner.
Provides error checking for when a transaction has not completed.
Can write-back handshake to control system for transfer verification.
Two types of transaction
Uni-Directional Data transactions (Data logging from a Controller to a Database)
Bi-directional Data Transaction. A bit in the controller triggers the transaction, Data from
the control system is passed to a stored procedure in the database and the stored
procedure executes and the output data is downloaded to the controller.

Stored Procedures
A stored procedure is a set of Structured Query Language (SQL) statements with an
assigned name that's stored in the database in compiled form.
Utilize the full power of the Microsoft SQL instruction set.

Do you have a lifecycle plan?

In a 2010 study of process automation users, Automation Research Corporation (ARC)
identified that 88% of these users confirmed the use of automation beyond the
manufacturers obsolescence date. In this same study, a clear majority of users
acknowledge having NO lifecycle plan.
