Ocean tides are the periodic rise and fall of the ocean

Caused by gravitational pulls from the moon and a bit from the sun, and the
rotation of the Earth.
The tide cycle is about 24 hours
2 high and low tides occur in most places on earth daily
The moon is more important in how tides function because its gravitational pull is
more effective on earth since it is much more closer
Spring tides have the greatest difference between high and low tides and only
occur during full and new moon phases
Neap tides have the smallest differences between high and low tides and only
occur during quarter moon phases
An eclipse occurs when a celestial body moves in front of a light-emitting
celestial body like a star, casting shadows on their surfaces
Two types of eclipses occur on earth: solar and lunar
Solar eclipses occur when the moon passes between the sun and earth, casting
a focused shadow on the earths surface
Lunar eclipses occur when the earth moves in between the moon and sun,
creating a large shadow on the moon; only during full moons
The positions of the sun, moon, and earth cause eclipses. (main idea)
