as to how we can perfect these expressions but our thoughts and opinions do not take precedence over what
pleases the God who we worship.
TIMELY WORSHIP
We value timeliness in worship not as a means of
quenching the Spirit but to give the Spirit
adequate time to work and maximizing
congregants engagement in worship. As great
prayer, thought and intentionality go into worship
planning for every service at NLIC we honor that
effort through adherence to and execution of the
timing of each segment of our worship service.
Our Liturgy
The worship service order is developed and subject to change at the discretion of the Senior Pastor.
CHOIRS/VOCAL ENSEMBLES
The role of the choir/vocal ensembles is to lead the congregation in worship, to represent the
congregation, and to instruct the congregation in worship. In essence, the choir sings to, for, and with
the congregation in worship. Choirs/Vocal Ensembles must be a dedicated group of people who have
joyfully accepted the opportunities for advancing the kingdom of God. In addition to providing
leadership in worship, functioning always as a part of the worshiping congregation, the choir's primary
purpose is to strengthen the act of worship by singing portions of the service which the congregation is
unable to do quite so effectively. All choirs and vocal ensembles undergird, supports,
enhances, strengthens, and embellishes the corporate ministry of the preached word.
WORSHIP TEAMS
Congregational Song is not a performance by singers and instrumentalists, nor is it a warm up for the
sermon! Make no mistake about it: the most important musical group in the church IS THE
CONGREGATION. Worship is for all of God's people; the Bible calls for the saints to lift up their
voices (whether musically gifted or not) in a unified chorus of praise and adoration to God. The
Worship Teams role is to engage the hearts and minds of the congregation in exalting and honoring
God with the fruit of their [the congregations] lips.
INSTRUMENTALISTS
The Bible recommends musical instruments as part of worship. Psalm 150:3-5 lists seven or
eight musical instruments, suggesting an orchestra. Other verses list one musical instrument only,
suggesting solo playing. Psalm 150:3-5 reads: "Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute
and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with
clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals. At MBCC, we seek to utilize all types of
instruments in as part of our worship offering to God. The music should be such that it engages the
hearts and minds of the congregation in exalting God. Instrumentalists should also work cooperatively
with the Audio Team to manage volume is a mandate. A cohesive and cooperative relationship
between, Worship Pastor, Musical Director, and Audio Engineer, greatly aid in the weekly successful
outcomes of worship via open, honest, and early planning and communication.
situations to enhance worship and illustrate spiritual truths. Using interpretive arts as a means to
communicate the Gospel is an important aspect of our worship. Fine Arts can have several worship
arts forms, including: Liturgical Dance, Step, Deaf Ministry, Drama, Sermon Illuminations, Choral
Reading, Readers Theatre, and Mime.
CALL TO WORSHIP
The Call To Worship prompts congregational response to coming together to acknowledge
and to worship God.
The opener should draw people into the Worship Center and welcome them. Although the feel can
vary, words like fun, recognizable, and enjoyable describe a good opener. However, does not
necessarily dictate a repetitively loud vocal announcement! The ultimate goal is to help the
congregation and those in attendance transition from lifes logistics into a time of worship and
teaching.

mix of ethnic origins
Praise provides congregations opportunity to express praise to God for who He is and what He has
done. Praise is active and/or verbal: it must be seen and/or heard in order for it to be praise. Praise is
horizontal in that we speak of the goodness of God to others. Worship is the moment when our focus
must shift from others, and ourselves, and it is solely placed upon God. Worship is vertical, direct
communication between the individual and God and involves the letting go of ones self.
The designated worship lead MUST be sensitive, Holy Spirit directed and discerning the will of God for
the house of worship. This can only be obtained by a life of consistent prayer and communication
with God and total reliance on the Holy Spirit. The key role is to engage the hearts and minds of
the congregation in exalting and honoring God with the fruit of their [the congregations]
lips. If the congregation is NOT engaged, we have failed!! The songs are prayerfully selected based on
a given theme/worship emphasis each week. The songs may be a combination of familiar and less
familiar songs; and any new songs must be appropriately introduced to the congregation. The
repertoire should not only include contemporary songs, but also those familiar choruses that will
engage and galvanize results.
In general, when planning music for congregational singing (i.e. hymns, praise and
worship), ensure that:
MUSIC MINISTRY
It has been the aim of the Worship and Creative Arts Ministry of New Life In Christ Church, to
consistently minister all music of the cross-cultural, multi-generational experience, and that with
quality. The choirs/vocal ensemble/instrumentalists/dramatic presenters certainly fits the role of
"prompter" (with God as the "audience"), and can use their special gifts in a powerful way in inviting
and leading Gods people in worship. The choir/vocal ensemble dramatic presenters undergird,
support, enhance, strengthen, and embellish the corporate ministry of the preached word.
The repertoire is prayerfully considered and selected by the Director. In general, song set-up by the
individual or group is not encouraged, so as to manage time during the service. We are responsive to
exhortation as led by the Holy Spirit.
SPECIAL MUSIC
The Worship Pastor may utilize other guest music artists/groups in the worship service in addition to
the scheduled choir. Like the choirs, invited musical guests must undergird, support,
enhance, strengthen, and embellish the corporate ministry of the preached word. The
Worship Pastor, or his designee, will brief the individual or group on all aspects of the service including
the worship theme, worship decorum, etc.
The individual/group should provide the Worship Pastor with their song selection/s and short bio by
Monday am of the scheduled service week. Guests are to arrive no later than forty-five minutes for
sound check, and connect immediately with the Worship Pastor and/or designee to coordinate all
logistical needs. In all cases, he/she/they are expected to be seated prior to worship services.
Occasionally the Worship Pastor may provide a brief introduction of a guest artist/group in the service.
In general, song set-up by the individual or group is not encouraged, so as to manage time during
the service. We are receptive and responsive to a brief exhortation as led by the Holy Spirit.
INTERPRETIVE ARTS
The Worship Pastor works closely with the Pastor to determine which services or events would benefit
from interpretive arts in the services. We rely on God's direction; then the pieces are carefully
written or chosen based on the speakers inspired message and Scripture so as to glorify
God and stimulate spiritual change and growth. Interpretive arts are not used merely for
entertainment purposes. We are committed to strengthening our personal relationship with God and
each other, as we develop our gifts to dramatically connect people to God. The Worship Pastor will
provide directors with the theme of the service, as well as time allotted for the presentation.
We also serve through our Deaf Ministry by providing access for the hearing impaired to experience
the fullness of Christ and to guide them into a life-changing and active relationship with the Lord.
INVITATION TO DISCIPLESHIP
This is a very distinctive part of our service and the primary reason we fellowshipin order to
inspire and nurture souls to choose Christ. This is our opportunity to participate in Gods
Kingdom Businesswining souls to Christ using the musical talents He gave us.
During the prayer and appeal segments, the Holy Spirit, Pastor, and singers/ musicians
work together in a perfect triad to speak to the heart and soul of the listeners urging them
towards submission and to choose Christ. The music team should all be on one accord, aiming to
unify and lead the congregation in actively partitioning the Holy Spirit through song and prayer on
behalf of those who will hear the word of God and decide to give their hearts to Christ.
For most services, the Worship Team and Choir lead the congregation in song, which supports the focus
of the Pastors appeal. In cases where the Worship Pastor selects a singer/s, they will also be provided
with the specific focus of the Pastors appeal. In all cases, these songs must be sung to live
instrumental accompaniment. This is crucial to allowing the Holy Spirit and the Pastor to step in at any
given time in order to appeal to the hearts of the listeners. No introduction of the individual or group
will be given, and the Minister of Worship will cue singer/s when to move into position. Under no
circumstances should the individual or group make a song set-up or exhortation during this
segment of the worship service, as it is the Pastors responsibility to fully handle the appeal.
OFFERING APPEAL
Weekly offering appeals are implemented and led by the Senior Pastor and/or Elder. The offertory
declaration is recited by the congregation to galvanize the attention of attendees the
importance and power behind consistent giving unto God. Immediately following the Invitation
to Dicipleship, the Video Announcements occur.
All video presentations must be of the highest quality in video production, including lighting, editing,
and audio quality;
The Placement of the video(s) within the service must be such as to provide maximum impact and
memorability
of message; and,
All videos must contain a call to action or a call to reflection.
The Church Production Ministry, also known as Media for short, is comprised of a team of Audio
engineers, Video Technicians, Camera Operators, Lighting Specialists, Stage Mangers, Floor Directors,
and Content Producers. This team is an important partner in worship ministry!
Vision
We see the Blvds Church Production Ministry as an efficient, practical, professional, and Holy SpiritAligned worship ministry that is well-equipped both technically and personnel-wise, such that the Level
of Production, Execution, and Broadcasting of Worship Services and Special Events that are held at the
Blvd will be respected and looked at as a model within our Church, throughout the City, Region, Nation,
and World. The Media Team is always professional in appearance and execution, and is attentive at all
times during services and events, standing ready to make reasonable adjustments on the fly,
whenever possible.
Mission
Our Mission is to provide effective ministry, technical, and worship support for the furtherance of Gods
Kingdom, the Spreading of Gods Message, and the Achievement of Gods Will, WITHOUT FAIL, so that
people will first, Commit to, and Receive, the Infilling of Jesus Christ, and second, UNITE WITH NLIC in
Worship, Service, Personal Relationship, and Evangelism.
Structure
Reporting to the Worship Pastor, The Church Production Ministry is structured in such a way as to
ensure that activities and responsibilities are carried out with competence and excellence at all times,
and is human resourced under the concept of Continuity of Production Capability. We work, train,
recruit, and hire to maintain redundancy of skill sets at all times, so that the ministry and its important
support and production tasks are able to be executed uninterrupted, and at moments notice according
to Gods Will, as expressed through His appointed leaders, and as evangelistic circumstances
otherwise dictate. We make it a point to be dependent upon no one person in any area whatsoever.
These talented groups of hardworking individuals have a passion for communicating the love of Christ
through todays cutting edge technology. The Media Team, therefore, works closely with the pastor,
ministry leaders, and others to set the atmosphere for powerful, dynamic and meaningful worship
experiences in todays church. Although this ministry covers all local church needs that have to do with
audio and visual technology, the most requested and needed functions of the ministry include:
Broadcasting live audio and video to the sanctuary, other designated areas and Internet.
Recording audio and video during regular church services, and other special meetings.
Audio and video editing or recorded services and other special events for archive, broadcast, and
production.
Production, duplication, and distribution of recorded audio and video files to fulfill order requests
for sermon messages and other special events.
Providing audio and video support for evangelistic and other special events outside of the church
building.
When appropriate, Volunteers are trained for any specific technological skill or knowledge that is
required for ministry responsibilities, therefore, the only prerequisite to volunteering is a willingness to
learn and comfort in handling and using technological devices and equipment. Needed roles may
include: sound engineers, camera operators, video switchers, stage managers, floor directors, and
broadcast content producers.
In pursuit of this vision and in support of this mission, Media has established the following Time
Parameters and Operational Guidelines for clarity, and to ensure that ministry goals are met efficiently
and effectively.

The pulpit should have a visible presence on the platform. In the event the pulpit needs to be placed
off the platform, the placement should still be visible by the congregation.
Worship leaders should be side-staged, but clearly visible on the platform when singing or speaking,
reserving the center podium for the proclamation of the Word.
Other off-stage worship team participants need to bring a strong presence that engages attenders.
They need to be comfortable and able to play and lead in a way that enhances the worship experience.
Non-leading, support worship team members should be upstage (i.e. vocals, keys, other auxiliary
players).
Lighting
Excellent lighting will bring the right focus during the worship celebration as well as create and
enhance the right mood and feel during the worship celebration.
All design work is intended to enhance the focus of the worship celebration, not distract.
Opening lights are set at a level where people can comfortably enter the worship center and find a
seat. The room should not be too dim that people cannot see well, or too bright that there is no
mood set.
Lighting during the worship time starts brighter, but fades to a level where people can focus on the
platform and on worship. Lighting should match graphics in colors, tempo, and feel of songs.
Only during specific music, movement or sacerdotal functions (i.e., baptism and communion)
should the lights be fairly dark.
Lighting during announcements, offertory and message should be brighter than worship, and allow
the campus pastor and/or teaching pastor the ability to see and connect with attenders.
Cavernous lighting should be avoided. Attenders should be able to comfortably read their program
and notes sheets during this time.
Moving lights are used sparingly during the worship set if they are not distracting.
Hazers are standard equipment. Strobe lights are to be avoided due to health concerns (epilepsy).
USHERS
Purpose of Ministry
Church ushering is a ministry of hospitality and caring. It is a sacrificial service. The purpose of a
church usher is to promote divine Worship in the church. An ushers job is just as important as highly
visible leaders in the church. They represent Jesus and His Church to the public. Ushering duties
encompass four specific areas: Assist the Pastor, meet and greet people, maintain order and receive
the offerings.
Expectations of Volunteers
All volunteers should have completed new member classes, be actively enrolled in Bible study, adhere
to the ministry bylaws set forth, be available for training and monthly meetings, and be ready to serve
at all times.
Vision
The vision of the MBCC Ushers is that of a unified body of faithful stewards. Members of the body will
display: positive and cooperative spirits, promptness, consistency, commitment, dependability, strong
work ethics, and teamwork and remain faithful to the calling
GREETERS
13
Greeters are like the fruit of the Spirit. Greeters serve visitors, guests, and church family alike, helping
each person to find a place that meets their needs, offering a program, a friendly handshake, and a
warm welcome. Our purpose is to serve those in attendance and to exemplify the fruit of the Spirit to
everyone that enters our doors. Chances are a greeter will be the first person a member or guest sees
when they arrive. We want MBCC members and guests to know that their presence in worship is our
reason for serving and we are glad that you are here. Greeters are a visible presence, representing the
church as an intermediary between the needs of a specific person and the resources available through
the church.
First impressions are lasting ones! Greeters want to give a great first impression of our church by
welcoming our guests with warm friendly smiles. Greeters should:
Arrive well rested and ready to serve. Offer a bulletin with a sincere smile and verbal greeting. If
there are no bulletin or other materials to distribute, your warm welcoming smile and greeting is
still needed.
Be positive. Make direct eye contact even if worshippers hurry pass and fail to reciprocate. Let
people know we are glad they chose The Blvd.
Have a servants heart. Be willing to serve in any capacity asked by your team captain and other
leaders in the church. Make an extra effort to escort members and guests to hard-to-find
destinations around the church (nursery, childrens church, security/welcome desk). If members or
guests ask questions that you are unable to answer, help them find the appropriate person to
answer their questions. I dont know is not the answer. Instead say, Lets find out.
Be careful not to use your position as an opportunity to promote your own interests or business.
Be committed. Serve faithfully on each assigned Sunday, and volunteer for extra service
opportunities.
14
A mid-week rehearsal with music teams and the campus audio engineer; any change to this would
be the exception, not the rule.
Saturday rehearsal and run through where appropriate or optional days must be planned and
approved well in advance of 7-10 days advance notice.
Additional rehearsal is required for special worship celebration elements (i.e. message illustrations)
and should be worked into the week schedule.
Adequate personal prep time should be invested for music, spoken parts and other worship
celebration elements. Nobody just wings it.
The expectation is all staff and Worship Ministries team members (paid and volunteer) stay on
campus during rehearsal and worship celebration times. Any exception must be approved by the
Minister of Worship or designated team lead.
Members must attend rehearsals of their particular group(s) as deemed mandatory for participation in
an upcoming ministry opportunity. Absences known in advance should be communicated with the
group leader in writing prior to the rehearsal period. Excused absence examples are: work related,
travel schedule or items that deem that special consideration be given.
Rehearsals for all ministries will range from 1 to 1 1/2 hours per week. Rehearsal schedules will vary by
ministry group, and may require multiple sessions per week. Consult the ministry calendars for
mandatory rehearsals. Special rehearsals for signature events will arise from time to time. Members
will take an active part in special rehearsals in order to participate in special events.
If a member does not make rehearsal, they will not be able to participate on the assigned service
unless the Leader has granted an excused absence. Members are responsible for missed content if
they plan to minister. Members are encouraged to obtain assigned music, video of movement or
scripts in order to prepare prior to the next rehearsal/ministry opportunity.
The Marks of Professionalism for ALL Blvd. Rehearsals:

MINISTRY DAYS
15
Members should arrive no less than 60 minutes before ministry on any given service. Ministry groups
will be positioned for service no less than 10 minutes before service. Movement after service has
started will be limited and kept to the bare minimum in the choir loft/pit areas.
Eating and drinking will be limited to designated rehearsal/dressing spaces. No gum chewing is
permitted while ministering. Mints and throat lozenges are acceptable forms of breath fresheners and
moisture aids. Water may be permitted in the choir loft provided permission is given due to health
reasons. Texting and viewing of cell-phones/-pads outside of the sermon is prohibited for all worship
participants.
ATTIRE
Since MBCC is a house of God, attire should be presentable for church. When he had consulted with
the people, he appointed those who sang to the LORD and those who praised Him in holy attire, as
they went out before the army and said, "Give thanks to the LORD, for His lovingkindness is
everlasting." (2 Chronicles 20:21, NASB) Apparel should be modest and not cause distractions from
ministry because of inappropriate fit or flare. Members should avoid the following: Tight fitting shirts,
skirts or pants. No type of caps or head coverings will be worn when ministering.
If members don't have the correct attire for their assigned ministry, they will not be permitted to
minister.
We recommend that participants refrain from the use of cologne, perfumes, scented lotions and body
sprays while ministering.
Worship celebration is 90 minutes in length for the MT campus. 60 Minutes for the SW Campus
All transitions within the worship celebration should be seamless, minimizing distractions
All staff and servants involved in the worship celebration should gather for prayer with their respective
team 20 minutes prior to the start of worship.
All staff and servants involved in the worship celebration should be in place 15 minutes prior to the
start of the worship celebration.

people at ease:
DO welcome first-time attenders, and invite them to participate, but give them permission to
simply observe.
DO model worship even as you instruct people how to worship (i.e. raise your hands, put your
hands together, etc.)
DO encourage people to interact with the people around them during the worship celebration (i.e.
