SUMMARY:
Responsible for remodeling, renovating, designing, estimating, constructing, and maintaining structural elements
within buildings including cabinets, walls, ceilings, roofs, windows, doors, and floors. May assist with translation
and/or communication using second language skills when possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements of duties, responsibilities, frequency, and percentages are intended to describe the
general nature and level of work being pefformed by individuals assEned to this position. Ihese statements are

85% Inspects, designs, constructs, repairs, replaces, and maintains allstructural elements as assigned
within buildings including walls, ceilings, floors, roofs, gutters, downspouts, cabinets, doors,
windows, glazing, texture, painting and other miscellaneous elements.
3olo Estimates materials for each work order as needed.
1% Performs inventory of stock materials and orders additional items, as needed.
5% Assists other trades as needed.
1% Performs'recall'emergency services after normal hours due to emergencies.
2% Subject to assignment as needed, varying work shifts including nights and weekends.
Ongoing 3% Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Requires high school diploma or GED plus vocational or technical training after high school, or equivalent
experience, resulting in journeyman level expertise in related trade.
EXPERIENCE:
Requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a related trade. Experience as a maintenance and
repair construction technician in the public sector or industry is strongly preferred.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EQUIPMENT & OTHER:
Basic ability to understand documents, define problems and draw valid conclusions. Requires ability to perform
math computations needed in trade; ability to read blueprints; basic building code knowledge as it relates to work
in the related trade. Requires knowledge and skill in the use of forklifts, scissor lift, and hand and power tools
required in the related trade. Required to work overtime on both a scheduled and an emergency basis. Subject to
after-hours recall. At the Company's discretion, employee may be required to wear a Company furnished uniform
as a condition of continued employment & is , gloves, ear protection

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:


California Class "C" driver's license may be required at time of hire. Driver's license must be maintained as a
condition of continued employment. Employee may be required to operate heavy machinery vehicles. Employee
must maintain a driving record which meets the standards of the Company's insurance policy. Subject to
Company needs, employee may be required to obtain Journeyman certification and maintain current certification
as a condition of continued employment. Joumeyman certification in carpentry or related trade.
SUPERVISION'TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY:
May oversee Assistant Carpenter. Spends less than 30% of time conducting supervisory responsibilities. Carries
out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities
include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training
employees. Acts as a technical resource to other trades and custodial personnel regarding problems associated
with all structural elements as assigned buildings.
SAFEW TO SELF AND OTHERS:
Low exposure to self to bruises, cuts, fractured bones, disease, chemical and heat burns, and fatality due to tools,
falls, exposure to others, torches, and roofing compounds. Medium exposure to self and others to hernia due to
excess weight. High exposure to self and/or others to cuts, repetitive motion or stress, loss of limb, loss of sight,
and disfigurement due to use of tools and equipment, flying objects, and sharp or broken structural elements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel;

stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds,
frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific
smell and vision abilities required by this job include close vision & smell, distance vision & smell, color vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The
employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles;
and high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to heat, wet andlor humid conditions; toxic or
caustic chemicals and vibration. Subject to needs, employee may be required to work in asbestos contaminated
areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
MENTAL FUNGTIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and coordinate.
Frequently required to analyze, use interpersonalskills and compile. Occasionally required to compare, copy,
instruct, compute, synthesize and evaluate.
