Introduction
Open source software (OSS) is defined as computer software for which the source code and
certain other rights normally reserved for copyright holders are provided under a software
license that meets the Open Source Definition or that is in the public domain. This permits
users to use, change, and improve the software, and to redistribute it in modified or
unmodified forms. It is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open source
software is the most prominent example of open source development and often compared to
user-generated content. The term open source software originated as part of a marketing
campaign for free software.
Hardware is a general term that refers to the physical artifacts of a technology. It may also
mean the physical components of a computer system, in the form of computer hardware.
Software is a general term used to describe a collection of computer programs, procedures
and documentation that perform some tasks on a computer system. Software includes
websites, programs, etc. that are coded by programming languages C,C++,etc.

The Latest Open Source Operating System (OS)

2.1

Meanings of open source OS

An operating system is a set of programs containing instructios that coordinate all the
activities among computer hardware software resources. Most operating system
perform similar function that includes starting a computer, provide a user interface,
managing program, managing memory and configuring devices. Some operating system
also allows user to control a network and administer security
Open source operating is any operating thet is free to use and which provides the
original code where the source code is available (under a copyright license) to the
public, which enables them to use , modify/ enchance the operating system and
redistribute the modified(or unmodified)form of the operating system. The advance
user can modify the code of the operating system to make it works better for them
in starting the computer or a likely user interface.

Meaning of open source application software(OSAS)

Open source of application sofware is an application software (is a computer program
or a suite of computer programs that performs a particular function for the user) that is
its source codes are available to users and they have the rights to modify it which also
means that it is free to download and use.

4.1 Hardware
Samsung Galaxy S6 EDGE

Beyond being just attractive, the design of the screen comes with some perks,
too. While the 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display has the same specs as on the
standardS6 (the main screen runs at 2560x1440), the extension of the display over the
edges creates a slightly more immersive viewing experience when viewing videos or
playing games. You get the same octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 3GB of RAM,
improved 16-megapixel rear camera, updated fingerprint reader, and far less clunky
version of TouchWiz. So its just as zippy; it takes just as clear, colorful photos thanks
to a wider f/1.9 aperture lens, optical image stabilization, automatic HDR, and fast
auto-focus; it captures 4K video and 240fps slow-motion video just as well; it has the
same style of quick-unlock as Apples Touch ID; and you can get around in Android
5.0 Lollipop without much clutter from Samsungs overlaid skin. The only real
difference (outside of a few design tweaks) is that the Edge has a slightly larger
battery2,600mAh versus 2,550mAh in the S6but youll see no real difference
during use. It'll still provide a strongly solid day's worth of battery for average use,
although power users may need to add a little extra juice before evening
strikes. Luckily, built-in wireless charging makes it easy to start refilling the battery
anytime you set the S6 Edge on a charging pad (wired Fast Charging is also
available).

Software (Adobe Photoshop CS3 and CS4)

Adobe Photoshop CS3 is marketed with three main components of
improvement over previous versions. Adobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3) was announced
on March 27, 2007. It introduced universal binaries for all major programs for the
Apple Macintosh. It work more productively, edit with unrivalled power, and
composite with breakthrough tools. New features propagating productivity include
streamlined interface, improved Camera Raw, better control over print options,
enhanced PDF support, and better management with Adobe Bridge. Editing tools new
to CS3 are the Clone Source palette and nondestructive Smart Filters, and other
features such as the Brightness/Contrast adjustment and Vanishing Point module were
enhanced. The Black and White adjustment option improves users control over

manual grayscale conversions with a dialog box similar to that of Channel Mixer.
Compositing is assisted with Photoshop's new Quick Selection and Refine Edge tools
and improved Image Stitching Technology. CS3 Extended contains all features of CS3
plus tools for editing and importing some 3D graphics file formats, enhancing video,
and comprehensive image analysis tools, utilizing MATLAB integration and DICOM
file support.
Adobe Photoshop CS4 was announced on September 23, 2008 as the
successor to Adobe Creative Suite 3. It was officially released on October 15, 2008.
CS4 features additions such as the ability to paint directly on 3D models, wrap 2D
images around 3D shapes, convert gradient maps to 3D objects, add depth to layers
and text, get print-quality output with the new ray-tracing rendering engine, and enjoy
exporting to supported common 3D formats, the new Adjustment and Mask Panels,
content-aware scaling, and Fluid Canvas Rotation and File display options. On 30
April, Adobe released Photoshop CS4 Extended, which includes all the same features
of Adobe Photoshop CS4 with the addition of capabilities for scientific imaging, 3D,
and high end film and video users. The successor to Photoshop CS3, Photoshop CS4,
is the first 64-bit Photoshop on consumer computers.

Pervasive Computing
5.1

Meaning of pervasive computing

Refers to the use of computers in everyday life, including PDAs, smart phones
and other mobile devices. It also refers to computers contained in
commonplace objects such as cars and appliances and implies that people are
unaware of their presence. One of the Holy Grails of this environment is that
all these devices communicate with each other over wireless networks without
any interaction required by the user. See pervasive workplace.

5.2

Examples of pervasive computing

a)Smart TV

*Samsung Smart TV
Smart TV, which is also sometimes referred to as "Connected TV" or "Hybrid TV",
(not to be confused with Internet TV, Web TV, or LG Electronics's upcoming
"SMART TV" branded NetCast Entertainment Access devices), is the phrase used to
describe the current trend of integration of the internet and Web 2.0 features into
modern television sets and set-top boxes, as well as the technological convergence
between computers and these television sets /set-top boxes. These new devices most
often also have a much higher focus on online interactive media, Internet TV, overthe-top content, as well as on-demand streaming media, and less focus on traditional
broadcast media like previous generations of television sets and set-top boxes always
have had.
The technology that enables Smart TVs is not only incorporated into television sets,
but also devices such as set-top boxes, Blu-ray players, game consoles, and other
companion devices. These devices allow viewers to search and find videos, movies,
photos and other content on the web, on a local cable TV channel, on a satellite TV
channel, or stored on a local hard drive.

b) GPS

*Garmin GPS

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based global navigation satellite

system (GNSS) that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere
on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS
satellites. It is maintained by the United States government and is freely accessible by
anyone with a GPS receiver.
The GPS project was developed in 1973 to overcome the limitations of previous
navigation systems, integrating ideas from several predecessors, including a number
of classified engineering design studies from the 1960s. GPS was created and realized
by the U.S. Department of Defense (USDOD) and was originally run with
24 satellites. It became fully operational in 1994.

6.0

Conclusion
Open Source can be used by anyone and because it has no copyright claims, so
users are free to use, change, and improve the software, and to redistribute it in
modified or unmodified forms. Pervasive Computing is to make our lives easier
because we can interact with computers. Besides that, we can easily give the
computer commands and the computer will grant your wish.
