Meaning Of Organization:
Organization is the foundation upon which the whole structure of management is built.
Organization is related with developing a frame work where the total work is divided into
manageable components in order to facilitate the achievement of objectives or goals. Thus,
organization is the structure or mechanism that enables living things to work together. In a static
sense, an organization is a structure or machinery manned by group of individuals who are
working together towards a common goal. Alike management, the term organization has also
been used in a number of ways.
An organization is a social arrangement which pursues collective goals, controls
its own performance, and has a boundary separating it from its environment.
The word itself is derived from the Greek word organon, itself derived from the better known
word ergon.
The broader analysis of organizations is commonly referred to as organizational studies, behavior
etc.
According to Keith Davis, Organization may be defined as a group of individuals, large or
small, that is co operating under the direction of executive leadership in accomplishment of
certain common object.

REASON FOR SELECTING S.K MARKETING

Students End:

The Objective of this internship were mainly to study the Financial activities of an organization,
but there are some more and they are:

1. The main purpose of our study was to render a better understanding of financial
concepts.

2. To understand planning and management activities of stocks.

3. To measure the financial activities of the firm by analyzing various methods and
applying Book Knowledge.

Industrial End:
1. Suitability:
Writing an accurate position as and description is an important part of the recruitment process. It
describes the primary tasks involved as well as the core competencies required to perform the
role.

14
2. Consistency
A good recruitment and selection policy will also require that hiring managers use predetermined criteria at all stages of the recruitment process, thereby reducing the risk
of bias or discrimination.
It should be noted that treating everyone consistently does not always imply fairness. If a
candidate is at a disadvantage for any reason (i.e. has a disability), you may need to take their

individual circumstances into account, so they are given an equal opportunity to present their
case.
3. Legality
Privacy and equal opportunity legislation require that the recruitment process is conducted in a
fair and transparent manner.
A candidate may have recourse to legal action if they feel they have been discriminated against,
so impartiality is not only the right thing to do.
Privacy laws also require that a candidates application is treated confidentially. Penalties apply
if breaches occur, so here as well, a good recruitment and selection policy helps to protect the
organizations best interests.
4. Credibility
Some are placed by organizations wishing to build up a talent pool or to simply to test the
waters and see whats out there.
5. Transparency
By requiring transparent procedures at every step, the recruitment and selection policy ensures
that all stakeholders in the recruitment process (HR, department head, line manager etc) are able
to follow the process and be confident of the outcome.
15

Type of Ownership

A Business ownership should be structured according to the needs of the owners and potentially
liability that the business could incur.
S.K Marketing is a Partnership firm:
S.K Marketing is partnership firm owned by
Mr.Parvez Khan and Azra Shaikh. It was formed in 2012 by these two. It is registered and
authorized distributors of Maybelline New York.
51% of Capital of the firm is owned by Mr Parvez Khan.
49% of Capital of the firm is owned by Miss Azra Shaikh.
Persons who are entered into partnership with one another to carry on a business
are individually called Partners, collectively called as a Partnership Firm.
A partnership firm is not a separate legal entity distinct from its members. It is
merely a collective name given to the individuals composing it. Hence, unlike a company
which has a separate legal entity distinct from its members, a firm cannot possess
property or employ servants, neither it can be a debtor or a creditor. It cannot sue or be
sued by others. It is only for the sake of convenience that in commercial usage terms like
firms property, employee of the firm, suit against the firm and so on are used, but
in the eyes of the law that simply means property of the partners, employees of the
partners and a suit against the partners of that firm.
It is relevant to state that for the purposes of levy of taxes, a partnership firm is
an entity quite distinct from the partners composing it and is assessable separately. But
for all other laws, they are treated as the same because a partnership firm does not have a
separate legal entity of its own.

21
The different types of business ownership are:
1) A Corporation:
The most significant benefits to forming a corporation is that it limits the
owners personal liability for business dents and any court judgments against the

business. A corporation is an independent legal and tax entity. This sets it apart from other
types of businesses. The owners do not use their personal tax returns to pay tax on
corporate profits because the corporation itself pays these taxes. Any money drawn from
the corporation in the form of salaries, bonuses, etc is paid by the owners in their personal
income tax returns.
2) Limited Liability Corporations:
Limited Liability Corporations provide their owners just that, limited personal
liability for business debts and claims. However, LLCs resemble partnerships when it
comes to taxes. The owners of an LLC pay taxes on their shares of the business income
on their personal tax returns. This type of organization is good for business owners who
either could be sued by customers run the risk of piling up a lot of debt have substantial
personal assets they want to protect.
3) Sole Proprietorships:
A Sole Proprietorship is a form of private sector enterprise that is owned,
managed and controlled by an individual entrepreneur. This type of business organization
is also called one man business or Individual proprietorship or Individual
Entrepreneurship and owner of the business is commonly called the Sole Proprietor or
Sole trader. Sole Proprietorship is a form of organization having only one owner. The
word proprietor means owner and sole means single. It is the oldest and simplest form of
organization.
22
Sole Trader invests his own capital into the business and manages all the
business. The full control of business rests in him. He bears the entire risk and derives the
total benefits. He may engage in any business he chooses without much legal formalities,
unless he wishes to engage in certain types of business requiring licences e.g. if a man
wishes to open general stores, he may do so, if he can find good location and have
sufficient money for that business. On other hand, to open a medical store, he will have to
obtain a licence from Government authorities.

4) Nonprofit Corporations:
A nonprofit corporation is a corporation formed to carry out a charitable ,
educational, religious, literary or scientific purpose. A nonprofit can raise much needed
funds by receiving public and private grant money and donations from individuals and
companies. The federal and state governments do not generally tax nonprofit corporation
on money they make that is related to their nonprofit purpose, because of the benefits
they contribute to society.

5) Cooperatives:
Some people dream of forming a business of true equals. An organization
owned and operated democratically by its members. These grassroots business organizers
often refer to their business as a group, collective or co-op but these are usually
informal rather than legal labels. For example, a consumer co-op could be formed to run
a food store, a bookstore or any other retail business. Or a workers co-op could be
created to manufacture and sell arts and crafts.

23

6) Private Corporation:
A business that is a legal entity created by the state whose assets and
liabilities are separate from its owners. While there are also public corporations whose
stocks are traded on a public stock exchange. Most small business are started as a private
corporation. A private corporation is owned by a small group of people who are typically
involved in managing the business. Forming a corporation requires developing a legal
document called the Articles of Incorporation and submitting them to the state in which
the corporation wishes to reside. Advantages of a corporation include limited liability. An

owner can only lose up to the amount he/ she invested, unlimited lifespan. A corporation
is charted to last forever unless its articles of incorporation state otherwise, great sources
of funding; and case of transfer of ownership. Disadvantages include double taxation.
The corporation, as a legal entity, must pay taxes, and then shareholders also pay taxes on
any dividends received.

WORK CULTURE OF ORGANIZATION

Organizational culture encompasses values and behaviors that "contribute to the unique social

and psychological environment of an organization.

According to Needle (2004), organizational culture represents the collective values, beliefs and

habits.
Strong culture is said to exist where staff respond to stimulus because of their alignment to
organizational values. In such environments, strong cultures help firms operate like well-oiled
machines, engaging in outstanding execution with only minor adjustments to existing procedures
as needed.
Organizations should strive for what is considered a "healthy" organizational culture in order to
increase productivity, growth, efficiency and reduce counterproductive behavior and turnover of
