SIX KEYSTONE SCORECARD BASICS

The traditional four dimensional balanced scorecard is a strategic planning system that
is used extensively in business and industry, government, and nonprofit organizations
worldwide to align business activities to the vision and strategy of the organization,
improve internal and external communications, and monitor organization performance
against strategic goals.
Halies Hope has evolved the four dimensional balanced scorecard from its early use as
a simple performance measurement framework to a full Six Keystone Scorecard
strategic planning and management system. The Six Keystone scorecard transforms an
organizations strategic plan from an attractive but passive document into a simple,
clear and definitive depiction of the direction the organization has chosen to pursue, that
can be used by team member in the organization on a daily basis. It provides a
framework that not only provides performance measurements, but helps managers and
team members identify what should be done and measured. It enables executives to
truly execute their strategies. We all know that what is measured and watched gets
done. Using the Six Keystone balanced Scorecard clearly defines those key areas of
most importance.
CLEAR DIRECTION
The Six Keystone scorecard approach provides a clear prescription as to what
companies should measure in order to 'balance' their organizational performance into a
fully integrated comprehensive plan. The Six Keystone scorecard is a management
system (not only a measurement system) that enables organizations to clarify their
vision and strategy and translate them into action. It provides feedback around both the
internal business processes and external outcomes in order to continuously improve
strategic performance and results. When fully deployed, the Six Keystone scorecard
transforms strategic planning from an academic exercise into the nerve center of an
enterprise.

NEW PERSPECTIVES
The Six Keystone Balanced Scorecard suggests that we view the organization from six
broad perspectives, two more than the traditional and outdated four dimensional
balanced scorecards used by business, and to develop metrics, collect data and
analyze it relative to each of these six critical perspectives:

Quality
Growth, Innovation and Learning
Community
Service
People
Financial /Stewardship
NEW KPI SCORECARD MAPPING
KPI Scorecard strategy maps are communication tools used to tell a story of how value
is created for the organization. They show a logical, step-by-step alignment and
integration between the six Keystones of success, organizational long term plan goals,
strategic implementation objectives and the implementation time line. Generally
speaking, improving performance in any of the six areas of success will have an
important and positive impact on the other Keystones. Clearly no area is autonomous
or separated from the others. Success in one enhances success in the others, while
slippage in one can lead to barriers and failures in the others.
The KPI scorecard acts as a single visual report of the integrated organizational
progress.
