Job Title: Director of Childrens Ministries

Reports to: Lead Pastor


Qualifications:

Called by God into this ministry and expresses passion for the OUMC mission:
Transforming the world by growing in faith, serving others, and sharing Jesus.

Degree in Education, Christian Education, Child Development, or experience comparable


to these degrees.

Successful previous experience in guiding childrens ministry programs is preferred.


Minimum three years experience as a part of a United Methodist congregation is
preferred.

Passion for working with children and families.

Outstanding interpersonal skills.


Experienced in program management and volunteer coordination.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Conducts self in a professional manner.

Models a strong, vital, open Christian faith.


Effectively works within a team environment.
Ability to identify and understand the needs of children and their parents/guardians, as
well as volunteers, in their pursuit of knowledge and skills.

Demonstrates the skill of active listening; openly accepts constructive criticism and
suggestions; proactively resolves interpersonal conflicts; and engages people positively
with an energetic attitude.

Overall Responsibilities:

Support the philosophy of ministry which involves strong lay leadership.


Abide by the Orchard UMC policies, procedures, rules and regulations which includes
the UMC Book of Discipline.

Work with and maintain confidential information.

Attend weekly staff meetings.

Ensure a safe and healthy environment for children and volunteers.

Childrens Ministry Program:

Facilitate all programming for children which includes but is not limited to: Sunday
School, Worship our Way, Wednesday Nights Together, and Vacation Bible School.

Facilitate Christian Education and Fellowship opportunities for children outside of the
traditional Sunday School program.

Facilitate Family Events which may include but are not limited to: Sunday School Kick
Off, Touch a Truck, Santas workshop, Fun in the Sun, Easter Celebration, service days,
Mini- Olympics.

Childrens Ministry Administration:

Develop and steward the vision for Childrens Ministry at OUMC.

Select Sunday School curriculum, order, sort, and distribute.


Recruit, train, and resource volunteers for Sunday School, Worship our Way, Childrens
Messages, and Wednesday Nights Together

Lead monthly childrens ministry team meetings.


Manage childrens ministry budget and designated funds.

Maintain appropriate student records, registrations, special needs information.


Ensure the Safe Sanctuary policy is timely and reflects current requirements
recommended by the UMC and our insurance company.

Ensure the implementation of the Safe Sanctuary policy.

Communicate regularly and directly with children and their parents verbally and/or in
writing.

This position is estimated to be a 25 hour per week position.


Attend continuing education as the budget allows.
Other tasks as directed by Lead Pastor.
