SCOPE ‘922.1, ‘This section ofthe code deals with requirements forthe materials, design, manufacture, testing, installation and Imaintenance of POT, PTFE, PIN and Meuillic Guide Bearings for Road Bridges, The provisions ofthis code are meant o serve as 8 guide to both design and construction engineers, but mere ‘compliance with the provisions stipulated hecein will not relieve themt in any way of thei responsibility for the sbility and soundness of the structure designed and erected 922.2. ‘Theprovision ofthis code shall apply or operating temperature between -10°C and +50°C. 922.3. Pot bearings with confined elastomeric pressure C3 (Pan; 2002 pads upto 1500 mm diameter are within the scope ofthis cade. 9224, Bearings which are subjected to tensile loads are ‘beyond the scope ofthis code 922.5. Bearings which are subjected to rotations greater ‘than 0,025 radians are beyond the scope of this code 923, TERMINOLOGY 923.1. Pot Bearing |A bearing consisting of a metal piston supported by a dse of unreinforced elastomer thats confined within a metal cylinder for allowing rotations! movement about any ais in horizontal plane {and to bear and transmit verieal load. For PTFE sheets provided with Iubricaton cavities in the form of dimples, the dimples shall be formed by hot pressing or moulding and the pattem of dimples shail be as shown in Fig. 2.
