ASSEMBLY AND FINISHING

BACK
1

With 8mm (US11) knitting needles, cast

on 64 stitches using cable cast on.

Purl 1 row.

Slip the 1st stitch knit-wise, knit to the

end of the row.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 until your piece

measures 20cm/8 from the cast on
edge, (approx. 30 rows) your last row
must be a knit row.

Cast off in ribbing.

Place your front and back panels on

top of each other, with the wrong sides
touching.

Thread the sewing needle with a length

of yarn. Starting at the outside edges,
use the horizontal invisible seam
technique to sew up the shoulder seams.

When you get to the neck edge use the

vertical invisible seam to sew up the side
of the neck trim.

Repeat steps 5 to 9 as given for the

front.

SLEEVE
The sleeves are made from the top down.
Follow the instructions twice to make the two
sleeves.

With 8mm knitting needles, cast on

44 stitches using the cable cast on
technique.

Work in stocking stitch until your piece

measures 48cm/19 from the cast on
edge, (approx. 67 rows) finishing with a
knit row.

Decrease row: Purl 4 stitches, purl

2 stitches together, purl 3 stitches.
Repeat the section inside the stars a
further 7 times. (36 stitches.)

Change to 5mm (US8) knitting needles,

work 4 rows in 1x1 rib stitch.

With the right sides facing up, line your

sleeves up with the sewn-together front/
back pieces, so that the centre of the
cast off edge on the sleeve meets the
shoulder seam. Use the perpendicular
invisible seam technique to attach the
sleeves to the body.

Repeat for the other sleeve.

With the right side facing outwards,

fold your sweater along the shoulders
and sleeves. Using the vertical invisible
seam, sew the underarm seams.

Starting at the bottom edge of the right

side of your sweater (the side without
the slipped stitch edge) use the vertical
invisible seam technique to sew the side
seam.

Starting at the top of the reverse

stocking stitch section, sew the left side
seam using the vertical invisible seam.
