Methodology

6.1

Megger to be done before and after cable laying with wiring disconnected at both
ends; PCC / PIB to JB Megger to carried out from PCC / PIB end.

6.2

6.3

After meggering cable voltage discharge shall be completed.

6.4

Continuity and insulation is to be checked before and after cable laying from
control room to field Junction Box after laying of multi Core cable.

6.5

Continuity and insulation is to be checked from field Junction box to instrument

after laying branch Cable.

6.6

Continuity is to be tested with low voltage tester / multimeter (with buzzer, if

available).

6.7

For multi core Instrument Signal Cable insulation is to be tested between each
core to ground using 500 V Megger and 5 M ohm resistance unless specified other
wise in Engineering Specification.

6.8

For Temperature cables insulation is to be tested between each core to ground and
between signal pairs / Triads using 500 V Megger and 5 M ohm resistance unless
specified otherwise in Engineering Specification.

6.9

For Power Cables insulation is to be tested between each core to ground and
between core using 500 V Megger and 5 M ohm resistance unless specified other
wise in Engineering Specification.

6.10

Shield ground check also is to be done. For cables where individual pair screens is
provided, individual pair shield and collective shield earthing testing to be done.

6.11

After completion of the Test, the Test results shall be recorded in form EPCMD-2QM00-FMT-CI-017 and compiled with respective Instrument pack.
