Plagiarism
When we are writing an essay, a report or anything else, we usually looked up the
internet and then combine the things that we found or maybe borrow the main idea of the
paragraph and write it in our own words, but if you didnt cite the source properly, it could
still became a kind of stealing, because youve copied an existing source which is other
peoples original idea/ work/ word into your own idea/ work/ word, and we called it
Plagiarism, plagiarism is defined as the representation, intentionally or unwittingly, of the
ideas, words or work of another person without proper, clear and explicit acknowledgment.
Its an issue in school is because when students are doing projects and other things, they
usually looked up the internet or books, but they didnt cite sources properly, and this is an
important information.
How to cite sources properly? it depends on the type and the requirements of the
project that youre working on, because there are many kinds of citation styles, on Plagiarism
.org it wrote If is the first time you cite a source, it is almost always a good idea to mention
its author(s), title, and genre (book, article, or web page, etc.). If the source is central to your
work, you may want to introduce it in a separate sentence or two, summarizing its
importance and main ideas. this is a kind of citation styles too, theres two examples of
citing sources:
1.Garza, Dr. Celina. Academic honesty - from principles to practice. Oct. 2014

2. Rick Riordan, in his book Percy Jackson and The Olympians, it wrote There is always a
way out for those clever enough to find it.
According to the U.S. law, almost all forms of expression fall under copyright protection
as long as they are recorded in some way (such as a book or a computer file), because those
things(computer file, book etc.) are protected by copyright, so if theres a student who
plagiarized in school, the student can be expelled from the course, it can result in the
students work being destroyed, it can result in expulsion from your academic institution, it
can also result in legal action.
When people talks about plagiarism, it usually reminds them of bibliography, on
plagiarism.org it wrote A bibliography is a list of all of the sources you have used (whether
referenced or not) in the process of researching your work. In general, a bibliography should
include: the authors' names, the titles of the works, the names and locations of the
companies that published your copies of the sources, the dates your copies were published,
the page numbers of your sources (if they are part of multi-source volumes). , we should
use bibliography is because bibliography shows the readers what did you searched for and it
is important to cite the sources that helps you complete your project.
One little mistake still can affect a persons future, the person may go in prison because
they forgot to do the last citation on their paper, so we should never doubt the importance of

citing sources, write down the quote of your sources as the same way it appears, and
remember to check carefully all the things( the authors name, the date that is published etc.)
is on your paper, these are the best ways to avoid plagiarize sources.
