1. Define the three modes of distribution located in your text.

Select
one and describe its potential advantages over the others in a
particular situation.
Reciprocity- creates and maintains social equality where members in the exchange
consider themselves to be equal. Reciprocity is broken down into three types:
generalized, balanced, and negative.
Redistribution- goods are collected by one person or a group of people and then
given out more widely. Redistribution is often as significant as reciprocity. The
difference is that unlike reciprocity, redistribution creates and maintains social
disparity
Market exchange is a highly organized market where brokers and traders buy and
sell securities such as shares, commodities, currencies, futures and options. Market
exchanges can be aided with a clearing house to cover defaults, or over-the-counter
(OTC).
Market exchange privileges the economic aspect of exchange over the social.
Exchange does not transform people into equals or unequal; it is "strictly business,"
as we like to think.
2. Everyone we know is undoubtedly a consumer. Explain the idea of
consumption in the modern world. How could it be looked at in both
a negative and positive light? Make sure to defend your answers.
Consumption is undermining the environmental to the core, we over building we
dont need, we mine an area until the ground caves in (a tragedy we caused). We
live in a world of excess, this excess in not only industrial it personal(obesity). The
dynamics of the consumption-poverty-inequality-environment nexus are
accelerating. Yes, we are consuming more oil than we are producing and yes we are
wasting precious drinking water, but with growth comes evolution.
3. There is a common saying today that money equals power. This does
not always apply in the historical and modern world. Give at least
one example of a different kind of power, where money is not
directly involved.
The Nazi movement involved mostly influence, and though they had vast amounts
of resources, it came second to their movement. Cults are similar where the
charismatic charm of a dictator is seeming more valuable than money. Money only
has value if we give it power, but with the power its just paper. Our presidents
wealth comes second to his leadership, and in a time of crisis money means
nothing.
4. As described in Module Four, with industrialization comes
technology, production, and complex systems of labor. Explain one
example where industrialization has positive effects on a community.
Explain a different example where industrialization negatively
affects a community.

The first positive effect of industrialization is womens rights, before the bill was
pass giving women the right to vote or work, women were seen as inferior to
men. With the growing industrialization women were granted many rights they
would have never dreamed of having a few decades ago. Industrialization
provides jobs in communities that didnt have any years ago. Industrialization
pushes us to create technologies to solve our problems.
