The assessment will be informal. I will
assess by walking around the room and
checking students drawings. I will be
checking to see that the students eye
drawings are anatomically correct and
have all of the necessary parts such as
eye lid etc. and checking to see that all
of the parts of the eye are proportionate.
Assessment (formal/informal) HOW
you will assess: WHAT you will be
looking for:
Assessment will be formal students will
be given a worksheet with a human eye
on it after the lesson and asked to label
the various parts of it.
Assessment will be informal students will

drawings, they will also be receiving guided help from their para-educators during
the lesson. Advanced students will be asked to draw two symmetrical eyes. Visuals
will be provided for English language learners on worksheets with pictures of step
by step instructions.
Procedures:

I will inform the students of the opening activity and tell them to try to
remember as much as they can while engaging in it telling them that they
will be doing a quick sketch based on what they saw. For the opening activity
students will be asked to look into each others eyes for 30 seconds.

Independent Learning (Students do it alone):

Then they will do a quick 2 minute sketch in their sketch books sketching
what they saw.
Essential Questions: How did this activity make you feel? Did you see any
emotion in the persons eyes and if so what emotion do you think it may
have been?
Focus Lesson (Teacher does):
Modeling: Then I will begin the lesson by modeling on the board for the

students giving step by step instructions.

Essential Question: Why have artists of the past and why do artists today
draw the human eye?

Guided Instruction (Teacher and Students do together):

I will have them follow along on their paper.

Essential Questions: What are you enjoying or disliking about creating your
eye drawing so far and why? How might you improve it?

SS-LPT/Rev 5-27-14

Collaborative Learning (Students do it together):

Once I am finished with my modeling I will encourage those students who

have finished to go around and help those who are still struggling.
Essential Questions: In your opinion what is the hardest part about drawing an
eye? What is the easiest part?

Formal Summative Assessment:

At the end of the lesson I will talk to students individually about their drawings and I
will use a grading rubric with the specific criteria listed that is used for grading.
There will be a section on the rubric for the students to grade themselves and for
me to grade them based on the listed criteria and we will discuss it and come to an
agreement of what grade is deserved and why.
