How Direct Digital Manufacturing, Micromanufacturing & Co-creation are
Bringing About the New Industrial Revolution

Corey Clothier
VP Product Management, Local Motors
Vehicle design and assembly has changed little since the days of Henry Ford, despite immeasurable
advances in technology. Still, vehicle manufacturers define efficiencies based on economies of scale-large
capital investments, high volume production, limited product mix, low profit margins and slow-paced
innovations. By instead utilizing a network of microfactories and just-in-time systems, employing direct
digital manufacturing (including 3D printing) and relying on the creative power of the crowd, Local
Motors turns the traditional vehicle on its head. These strategies eliminate the need for retooling a factory,
allow for rapid advancements in technology and customization, and reduce capital investment and
environmental footprint.

Of Hacking & Homeland Security: Cybersecurity in the Automotive Industry

A back-to-back keynote featuring two leading experts on cybersecurity culminating in an on-stage
conversation between Mark Weatherford & Chris Valasek

Mark Weatherford

SVP & Chief Cybersecurity Strategist, vArmour; First Deputy Under-Secretary for Cybersecurity,
U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Youve Been Hacked: How to Protect your Company, Employees & Shareholders
In the literal blink of an eye, malicious insiders and cyber criminals can compromise the security of your
company and destroy years of business success and corporate good will. Couple the dynamic cyber threat
landscape with the financial exposure and risks resulting from your data falling into the wrong hands, and
youve identified the most critical issue facing your company today. Join international cybersecurity expert,
Mark Weatherford, for a keynote you will never forget and your business cant afford to miss. Mark will discuss
critical relationships between the public and private sectors and highlight the many complexities surrounding
the Internet of Things and the convergence of IT, OT and physical security. Finally, Mark will propose that
your path to the Cloud is inevitable and how this technology shift is creating profound opportunities for you to
develop a better organizational security posture.

Chris Valasek

Security Chief, Advanced Technology Center, Uber

Automotive Security: a Hackers Eye View

Automotive Security is garnering widespread attention from media, consumers, manufactures and hackers
alike. The security of todays vehicles involves many moving parts, but while manufactures take a majority
of the blame, multiple parties contribute to the security debt in todays vehicle ecosystem. This presentation
will go over automotive security, current attacks and calls to action that will give valuable insight into vehicle
security from a hackers perspective.

Restructuring the Supplier Network

Dave Andrea
EVP Research, Center for Automotive Research (CAR)
The entire automotive value chain is under an intense magnifying glass to find the right product,
organization and capital structures to achieve required returns on invested capital. Vehicle OEMs, large
supplier systems integrators, materials suppliers, tooling providers and dealers are all restructuring
to attract the required human and financial capital to succeed in a very uncertain future. Some of this
restructuring is coming from the inside with suppliers controlling their own destinies and revamping their
operations. A great deal of the restructuring pressure is coming from the outside - with pressure to address
risk, returns and growth prospects from analysts and capital providers. These pressures will bring about
more change in the next five years than in the last 20.
David J. Andrea is Executive Vice President of Research. He is a member of CARs executive management
team and has overall responsibility for CARs research agenda including day to day management of CARs
research operations. One of CARs founders, he previously served as CFO and director of forecasting,
and was also involved in CARs predecessor organization, the Office for the Study of Automotive
Transportation (OSAT) at the University of Michigan.
Formerly Dave was the Senior Vice President and Chief Economist at the Original Equipment Suppliers
Association (OESA), Director of Forecasting at AutoPacific, Automotive Equity Analyst at Roney &
Company and Chief Economist at CSM Worldwide.

What to Do When Disruption is Impacting Your Employees Stress, Health & Satefy

Joe Burton

Founder & CEO, Whil Concepts, Inc.

Disruption is the new norm. But what does that mean to your employees stress, health and safety?
In this session, Joe Burton, Founder and CEO of Whil, presents a humor-filled look into the disruptive
challenges facing companies, the surprisingly high cost, and new stress resiliency techniques being
embraced around the world. This will include reflecting on a career running public companies as a
Global COO where his job description was fly around the world and stress people out.
Joe Burton is a C-level marketing and technology executive in the digital health and wellness space.
Prior to founding Whil, he was President of Headspace, an entrepreneur in the social and digital
media space and global COO of two of the largest agency networks in the world. Joe has managed tech
companies and agencies across all nine marketing disciplines. Hes spent a 20-year career in strategic
and operational roles working with Fortune 500 clients, managing operations, sales, technology and
launching and working with over 20 startups. Hes a global citizen, having managed global clients in
over 50 countries.
