METHOD FOR LAYING
is laid dry on both wooden and cement supports.
Laying is easy and fast: simply overlap the sheets by at least 5 cm using the apposite joining tabs, and finally fix them
using the two-way butyl sealant, supplied as an accessory.
Waterproofing foundation:

A.
Position the sheets directly onto the foundation

B.
Lay the electrowelded net

C.
Apply the finishing cement layer

INTRODUCTION
The history and development of buildings is directly related to mans need to protect himself from water.
Water penetration can be caused directly by rainwater or conversely by water permeating through the soil from the
groundwater table. Since ancient times, man has tried to remedy this problem, for example by using clay and lime, or
coal tar pitch as a sealant between structural stone elements. With the onset of the industrial era, great evolution has
taken place, both in building methods as well as materials technology. Progress has been relentless and increasingly
fast, pushed by research and industrial production. In the long run, buildings designed with insufficient waterproofing
systems, especially in respect of roofs and foundations, may experience serious problems in terms of stability.
The Freudenberg Politex Group has developed the ideal product to permanently solve the problem of infiltrations for
pitched roofs, green roofs, underground garages, foundations, and where surfaces have been converted into a
garden, terrace or balcony.
is a material produced using a reinforced polyester nonwoven that combines full waterproofing
integrity, together with important characteristics such as material stability and resistance, through the polyolefinic film
integrated within the two nonwoven layers.

BUILDINGS WITH PITCHED ROOFS

The roof of a building is the area which is most subject to the aggressivity of weather elements.
The primary objective of the more exposed sections of the roof (roofing tiles and shingles) is to prevent water from
being retained and, due to the pitch of the roof, facilitate the flow of the water into the gutters for permanent disposal.
Unfortunately over time, the risk of water infiltration through the roof is high, due to the movement or breakage of the
covering tiles or shingles. Providing a secure roofing system is essential and to this purpose the design phase must be
extremely accurate.
One excellent solution is the installation of
. An extremely effective waterproofing and vapour control
barrier that can be fitted directly on to wooden battens, wooden planking, clay blocks, fixed by the laths containing
thermal insulation.
An efficient roofingBreathable

UNDERGROUND GARAGES AND FLAT ROOFS
The need to optimize living spaces has led to a sharp increase in the design and construction of areas below the land
surface together with the need to restore the surface, possibly with green.
In parallel, modern building techniques have been moving towards more innovative solutions for the construction of
buildings with flat roofs, in order to make the roofing space fully enjoyable, possibly for use as a garden or sunroof.
The most common problems associated with such structures have traditionally been the infiltration and the draining of
rainwater.
In both respects
is a valid alternative to traditional waterproofing methods.
Applied directly onto the flat roofing, it guarantees excellent waterproofing protection and adjusts easily to any surface.

TERRACES AND BALCONIES

Very often the external surfaces of terraces
or balconies are covered with unsightly
humidity stains, cracks, or large areas
where the plaster has fallen off, sometimes
revealing the metal reinforcement.
The cause?
Poor waterproofing protection.

repair of both new flooring, and areas to
be renovated, as it offers full waterproofing
protection as well as the flexibility required
for areas of flooring.

can be laid directly on to an untreated surface as part of the foundation, in preparation for the new floor.
In the case of renovation,
can be laid directly onto the old flooring prior to the application of a suitable
adhesive for the new tiles, thus avoiding expensive time and resource to remove the old flooring system.

FOUNDATIONS

The formation of the building foundation is

more complex, compared to construction of
an exterior wall above ground, where the
retaining materials are more likely to dry
naturally in the atmosphere, and thus limit the
risk of water infiltration. Construction of such
a wall underground however means that the
materials are continually in contact with the
soil, which is very often wet or damp.
Due to the porosity of most building materials,
water is able to rise through the brickwork
through capillarity, unless a suitable waterproof
system or membrane is utilised to offer
protection.
The use of
, placed directly
on the concrete bed and over plinthes, will
provide total protection from water and
humidity.

Accessories

Warning
To obtain the best results in joining
, the laying surfaces must be clean, dry and free from oil and grease.
Lay the nonwoven onto the surface, apply the sealant, remove the paper from the back of the sealing strip and bring the
other surface in contact.

Rolls of butyl
sealant must be stored in a horizontal position and in their original packaging. They must be kept away from
sunlight, in a cool dry place, temperature range between 5 and 25C.
Under these conditions, the product can be stored for up to a maximum of two years.
