Credit Used

I have chosen to analyse the credit used in the film The Conjuring 2.
I chose this because the film's credit scene is considered to be
creepy and awkward as it is shown in black and white. The use of this
makes the audience feel uneasy as they would remember what they have
seen throughout the film causing the fear of the jump scares to return into
their minds. For example the opening of the credits. it is shown to the
audience that the recording played in the background is real. this gives
the audience a sense of fear as what they're about to hear is non-fictional.
It then fades in to a black background and white text. the use of this
makes the text stand out as well as affecting the audience as they are
uncertain of what is about to happen next. The recording is continuously
played in the background to further the enigma. it then fades back to the
original tape. after, it cuts to a black and white picture of the original
family whom experienced paranormal activity. the use of this picture
reminds the audience that this event actually happened and the people
that were in the picture were affected by it. this scares the audience as
they are overwhelmed that such experiences can happen and have been
documented. The next cut is an actual picture of the road where the house
was situated at that specific time. the use of this picture also makes the
audience feel uneasy as they are shown where the paranormal activities
took place. The producers of the film have their own area near the top in
white, which makes them stand out. The picture after, is a picture of a
garden of the house where the activities took place. this picture can be
seen as disturbing as the property looks creepy. furthermore the audio in
the background introduces the voice of the paranormal entity, which
makes everything more extreme. the executive producer is also shown.
the next picture is in the front of the living room of the house. this creeps
out the audience even more as they are delving into actual pictures of the
house. Overall this credit scene in The Conjuring 2 is extremely effective
as it leaves the audience scarred as they have seen what they can't
"unsee".
