Multiple Intelligences

First, take the Multiple Intelligences Test

Read information about Gardners Eight Multiple Intelligences from the same website

Another website is http://www.infed.org/thinkers/gardner.htm it has a bit of history on it. Focus on the
information about each of the eight intelligences
Depending on your top two MIs, create a presentation in one of those two MIs that tells us
o Your top three MIs
o Your strengths
o How these strengths show up in your life
o Things that are more difficult for you and why
o How you can use your strengths or gifts to build up the Body of Christ.
Verbal/Linguistic = Poem/Letter/Story
Logical/Mathematical = Charts/Graphs/Diagrams
Naturalist = Categories/Classifications/Collage
Visual/Spatial = Painting/Drawing/Sculpture
Kinesthetic = Movie/Puppet Show/Skit
Intrapersonal = Journal/Monologue
Interpersonal = Interviews/Play
Musical/Rhythmic = Song
Write a standard essay that is six paragraphs long
o Opening Paragraph
Sentences 1-3: Facts about Howard Gardner and how he came up with the MIs
Sentence 4: Topic (Everyone is smart in different ways.)
Sentence 5: Thesis (the topics of the four body paragraphs)
o Four Body Paragraphs
One paragraph about each of the following subjects
1. Briefly explain all eight of Gardners Multiple Intelligences.
2. Explain how you see your top three MIs in your own life. Ask two people (a
family member or close friend will work best) about how they see those top three
MIs in your life. Include what they say in this paragraph.
3. Explain what these top three MIs mean in terms of how you work as a student.
Write about things you do well and things you like to do. Also, write about things
that are more difficult for you and things you do not prefer to do.
4. Read these two Bible passages: I Corinthians 12:4-31 and Romans 12:1-8. Think
and reflect about what the verses are saying. Explain what they are saying about
things like gifts and talents and intelligences. What are your gifts? How can you
use them? What does it mean to the Body of Christ?
o Closing Paragraph
Sentences 1-3: Talk about how knowing your strengths and weaknesses can help you in
life
Sentence 4: Topic
Sentence 5: Restate the thesis in a different way
Sentence 6: Twist (it must somehow connect to the title of the essay)

Standard Formatting:
o Six full paragraphs according to the Expository Writing Format Outline
o Typed (EVERYTHING)
o Times New Roman (EVERYTHING)
o 12-Point font (EVERYTHING)
o Double spaced
o One-inch margins
o Black ink
o Heading in upper right corner (its OK if it is on every page, and its OK if its single spaced)
o Title centered but below heading
o Nothing bold, italics, underlined, all caps (except book/movie titles, ships)
o Indent the beginning of paragraphs
o No extra space between paragraphs
o Read your essay out loud to check for errors
o Have someone else read your essay to proofread it.
o NO CONTRACTIONS!!! (cant, didnt, wouldnt, etc.)
o Because this is kind of like a biography, first person is allowed (I, me, my, etc.)
