American Alligator

- Skin is camouflage in the murky water where they are found.

- Have long, muscular tails, which are very powerful and help them to move quickly
through the water.
- Eyes and nostrils are on top of their heads. This allows them to submerge their entire
body under water while only their eyes and nostrils remain above water.
- When the outside temperature drops low enough, will enter hibernation.
- Have semi-transparent membranes, which cover their eyes when submerging under
water. They act as another eyelid and assist them in seeing in the water.

Fennec Fox
- Large ears, which are usually 6 inches long (15 centimeters), help dissipate excess body
heat on hot days.
- Their kidneys are adapted to restrict water loss, their extensive burrowing may cause the
formation of dew, which can then be consumed, and they will receive moisture from the
food that they eat.
- Their burrowing and nocturnal lifestyle helps restrict water loss.

- Their thick fur helps insulate them from the cold nights.
- Their brownish/reddish fur helps to reflect heat, and also provides excellent camouflage.
- Have thick fur on the soles of their feet, which insulate against the hot ground. This
extra fur on the soles of their feet also affords them excellent traction in the loose sand.

Muskox
- Thick overcoats of shaggy long straight hair that hang down to the ground
- Undercoats are thick brown fleece
- Some of the coat is shed in the summer
- Huddle together in groups for protection and to keep warm

Three-toed Sloths
- Camouflage and amazing slowness help escapes predators. Green algae grows in the
sloth's fur, which helps camouflage it in the forest canopy.
- They hang from branches in the canopy, and are so still that predators such as jaguars
don't see them
- Arms are longer than their legs and curved feet for grasping branches. They cannot
walk, but are actually good swimmers when their habitat floods.
- They have three extra cervical vertebrae (neck bones) that allows them to turn their
heads 270 (three-quarters of the way around) to look all the way over each shoulder.

Turkish Gecko

- Rarely exceeding 15 centimeters (5.9 in) in length,

- Have large, lidless eyes with elliptical pupils, and
- Yellow- or tan-colored skin with black spots, often with stripes on the tail
