World Premieres Film Festival Philippines

Official Rules and Regulations


Article I
Organization
1) The Film Development Council of the Philippines acts as the official organizer of the
World Premieres Film Festival - Philippines through the Film Cultural Exchange Program
it has instituted.
2) Festival presentation is undertaken for each year with the Embassies in the Philippines
of all the countries with entries to the festival in cooperation with cultural arms of the
concerned countries.
Article II
Participating Films
1) Participation of festival films is signified by the accomplishment of the World Premieres
Film Festival Philippines Official Entry Form (respective of section entered into) and
submission duly coursed through the respective Embassies of concerned countries the
given films represent or by any conduit pertinent to existing diplomatic ties maintained
by involved countries with the Philippines, if necessary.
2) Films and pertinent materials including screeners and promotional collaterals for
international shipment purposes by diplomatic pouch will have to be labeled and
declared, For cultural use only, no commercial value.
3) Only films of full-length nature in the categories of:
a. live action (narrative),
b. animation (narrative),
c. documentary,
may be entered in any of the festival sections, namely, World Premieres Main
Competition; Cine Verde (Green Cinema); Filipino New Cinema, Parallel SectionEuroview; Parallel Section-ASEAN Skies; Parallel Section-Ibero-America.
4) Only films that have not been shown elsewhere prior to festival run are eligible for
World Premieres Main Competition. They will compete for prestigious customary prizes
the winners for which to be chosen by an international jury convened for such purpose.
5) Directors of films for World Premieres Main Competition have to be in attendance for
the gala event of their respective films and participate in more distinct activities
pertinent to the festival.

6) FDCP may opt to have Philippine distribution for films in the World Premieres Main
Competition beyond the festival run in partnership with concerned cinema chains in the
country. Such distribution is construed to have the force, effect and impact of state
undertaking with film for release to play at one screen at a time for a given theatrical
run from one Philippine locality to another for due identification. Standard admission
price applies with due percentage of earnings from sold tickets to be paid to the
producer of the released film accordingly.
7) Only films that are of Filipino production may be entered into the Filipino New Cinema
Section. These films must have not been shown elsewhere prior to the festival run.
8) Films that may have been shown elsewhere prior to festival run are accordingly selected
for other festival sections:
a. Cine Verde (Green Cinema) Section, for films with environmental awareness
topics
b. Parallel Sections:
i. Euroview for films from European countries
ii. ASEAN Skies for films from the member states of the Association of
Southeast Asian Nations
iii. Ibero-America for films from any of the Latin American nations with Spain
and Portugal
9) Films selected for the festivals Parallel Sections (Euroview, ASEAN Skies, Ibero-America)
are for either exhibition or competition provided that those eligible to compete for the
Intercontinental Prize for Best Feature shall not have been made earlier than January
2013. A jury for purposes of awarding the main prize under this festival section shall be
duly convened.
10) Films selected for the festival section Cine Verde are either for exhibition or competition
provided that those eligible to compete for Best Environmental Feature shall not have
been made earlier than January 2013. A jury for purposes of awarding the main prize
under this festival section shall be duly convened.
Article III
Festival Screenings
1) Each of the films will have two or three screenings for the paying public within the
duration of the festival including or in addition to a gala event to be formally hosted by
the Embassy of the concerned country the film comes from.
2) DCP format is required for theatrical exhibition. English-subtitled copy of each film
should be with the festival organizer ahead of the festival run not later than two weeks

before the start of the festival to allow ingestion and other necessary pre-screening
procedures.
